How to answer "why visa was denied" in ds-160 application

I went to the U.S. in January 2009 with a tourist visa. Before my visa expired, my parents applied for a tourist visa in the Philippines. They were asked why I stayed here long and who was supporting me and was not able to answer, were probably caught off guard and were nervous hence were denied in June of same year.

They went to Canada last November 2013 for 8days to vist my brother and his family and went back home.

I am a U.S. citizen now and want to apply them a tourist visa again. They are 75 and 80 years old. How do I answer the question why they were denied a visa before? What's the chances of them getting approved?

How were you able to become a citizen in 5 years time on a tourist visa?

Anyway reason denied what did they tell them. I mean its in the system why they were denied don;t you know why they were denied?

You came on a tourist visa and didn't come back, now you want your parents to come. You see how trust isn't there.

Tell them the truth. Because the CO asked why you were stayed long in the US and finally got married. Honestly, the chance to get approved very slim especially you are a US citizen now. The CO would thinking you will do the same again, apply a tourist visa for them and after arrived in the US then you will file I-130 for them. It does not matter how old they are now.

If you got the money to spare, go ahead and try.

What will you answer? I would tell the truth. They were denied because ______ . I just don't know exactly why they were deined, did the officer say something? they usually don't.

Unless the CO told them the reason they were denied you don't know it.

I would say "Not known" or "Unknown" rather than assuming the reason. Just because they could not answer a question does not mean

that was the reason UNLESS the CO told them that.

They went to Canada and went back home so that should be in their favor when applying for a B2 the next time and I think it is

very possible that they will get a B2 this time.
