Mailed in 1-29F petition today (WOOHOO!), but leaving for Colombia in early December. Is this cause for worry?

As the title suggests, I mailed in the petition today but have intentions of returning to be with my fiance in early to mid-December to wait out the process once my last quarter at college is finished.

With this in mind, from what I've seen this can be anywhere from a 6 - 8 month process so will me being in Colombia cause problems as this process progresses?

Many thanks guys!

~Kevin

P.S. Will I be contacted about NOA's and consulate interviews via e-mail?

You won't be affected by traveling. Although you should have someone you trust to receive your mail. You need to be mindful to the process in case you receive any RFE's.

This does not constitute legal advice.

You will be informed via email and mail as long as you have included e-notification as well though it is not always work that way. Better to check USCIS website a few times a week to see the progress. That was I did.

In the next stage when it is approved, you need to fill out I-134 Affidavit of Support form. So I hope you have enough income or co-sponsor.
