I am in the process of getting my financials together for the AOS. I have 5 dependents that require 34,887 in income.

2013 income- 33,819

2012 income- 57,143

2011 income- 50,151

Do I need to have another sponsor? I plan on using all three 1040s. Will they take a 3 year average, or only 2013.

I also have a letter from my current employer stating that I currently receive $36,000 for 2014.

Help please. Thanks!

You have to specify the amount of your dependents to answer that question.

I have 5 dependents, although they have always been claimed on their mother's 1040, never mine. the poverty guideline states $34,887, I am making $36,000 in 2014, possibly more.

2014, well current income, is the one that counts.

So you have 5 dependents plus you and your spouse is that correct so you have 7 to claim for household (regardless if they live with you or not). If 7 you need to make $45,037.

Also the embassy looks at current and previous year for many embassies Some present is all that matters.

So you are below and you will need a co-sponsor.

You have baby in photo is baby counted in that number also?

I realize now I should have said "household size."

Beg your pardon.

Phew  . Okay well what I would so since 2012 and 2011 was a banner year for you is write a little short explanation why 2013 was lower (sick, injury, travel). I know many CO's look at present and you may be okay but I know too some get snippy if you are $300 short on previous year.

I know I had 4 years worth cuz my 2011 I was in Nigeria almost the whole year with my husband so just explain. But remember also NVC just looks at current and many think because NVC accepted they are okay, but then the CO rejects and says you need a Co-sponsor.

I would check around your country portal see what others are reporting as too previous year is it a big factor. Someone on the interview thread from Ghana had interview today and they said she needs a co-sponsor she didn't make enough last year but makes more than enough currently.

You just never know. (sorry to ramble

Thanks much. I am in the process of getting a judgement against my previous company, they owe me the remainder of my salary from 2013. I will include a letter to explain.

Thanks again.
