How about teaching a child manners and respect? Or the values of education and hard work? Those things are more important to me than how to handle a firearm.

That is your right. The trouble is that you anti's desire to take away my right to raise my children as I see fit. Besides the values you stated I desire to include one more To respect the 2nd .

Who are you talking about? I have no problem with how you raise your child. But, newsflash, there are more amendments in the Constitution than just the 2nd. And if that's the only thing that's important to you, have at it.

More irrational fear.

I was talking about here. I remember talking with my mom this weekend about Roppongi and how it's completely safe to fall asleep at night on the sidewalk.

Is it because of no guns or societal differences. I bet if everyone owned a gun over there you still would be able to sleep on the streets. . On the other hand if you banned guns in your home town you still would not be safe to sleep on the side walk... Unless you looked like a bum with no assets to be stolen.

They don't need guns to be safe there. The same goes for most of Europe. Some societies function quite well without firearms. And can you sleep on the street in your hometown?

My hometown, I'd be more afraid of the police than anyone else if I slept on the pavement.

Also, I would not feel safe sleeping on the sidewalk in Roppongi...especially as a gaijin.

Yeah we don't need guns here. Americans need to get over this idea that society is inherently dangerous.

That actually happened to me in Roppongi. I woke up in someone's back yard with my camera gone. I think I may have been drugged at one of those Nigerian run bars there. White horse bar or something like that.

That's kinda the problem. You have a bunch of kids being raised in single parent homes that aren't being taught any values or respnsibility. Stick a firearm in their hand, and watch the crime rate go through the roof.

How about teaching a child to handle a gun in a safe manner. So a gun owner has a mental illness...Right

Teaching a child how to handle something that's primary purpose is to kill, seems a bit odd to me. How about teaching them something valuable they can use later in life?

Another example of how passing more gun laws is a waste of time. Until something is done about the collective mental illness/obsession concerning firearms, passing more laws isn't going to change anything. Have to start teaching kids at a young age that it's ok to go through life without having 20 different kinds of firearms within reach at all times.

Exactly. Two or three are generally sufficient.

That would be racist if I said that

Didn't your ancestors attempt to take over our country using guns?
