When applying for AOS it says that you can also apply for a travel document but on the forms it says date of intended departure? Do you ONLY fill this out IF you will be traveling for sure? I thought you could fill it out and send it in with the AOS application just IN CASE of travel.

You do not need specific travel dates for Advance Parole. You can fill it in with "emergency use only" and leave the dates blank.

When we were applying for it for my husband we didn't put any dates and wrote it would be for emergency travel(his grandmother was and still is very sick). No issues came about with having no specific dates.

No reason is needed. You do not even fill out the section that asks for purpose of trip. You skip from page 2 to page 4, part 7, as it states at the bottom of page 2 of the form. No explanation statement of why you want/need it is required either. It is routinely approved for adjustment applicants.

You can leave the date and length blank and then hand-write Unknown for those after printing it out, although leaving them blank will probably work just as well. Some have just made up a future date and length, and that worked too.
