It's a change in the "last updated" field in your USCIS online account portfolio. It won't generate an email because technically it isn't an action of any kind. A touch doesn't mean you were approved or denied or are getting and RFE. It doesn't mean anything until you, uh, find out what it means.

Some people get a bunch. Some people get none at all. Some don't even get emails and just have an NOA2 show up in their snailmail box.

well, i guess we got 'touched' today then :D this is the first time i've checked our status online in over a week (too depressing to see it still say 'pending Jan 22/07). low and behold, the last updated date is today! no email received, but hopefully that means we don't have to wait too much longer to get our NOA2... which would be so good because my fiance has really been getting depressed this week :crying: i feel the same; i'm trying to stay strong for him, but it's getting very hard.

wish us luck things start to happen quickly now *crosses fingers and toes*

I got a touch!

My NOA-1 was 01/16.

still new here -- are you guys getting "touches" through the email notifications you set up on the USCIS website or are you having to go each time and check their site on-line?

thanks!

autumn

You must check the USCIS website for a "touch" that does not result in an action. An action that results in a change of status will generate an email. A "touch" only means the petitioner's file was scanned, resulting in a date change. This means someone is looking at your file.

6th & 7th Nephilim got touched ahead on ours.. :angry:CSC should work on our papers first! Technically, their NOA1 was dated Jan26th, ours were Jan 24th!! Booooooo!!

Wehehe.. This is just out of envy.. =D Peace out! Still and all, I hope you two a speedy approval.. :)

dont feel bad.. have an imbra waiver and there are people with imbra waivers in vermont who have already had interviews

There are people from VSC that filed in March of 2007 and they already have their fiancees here. If that does not make you :ranting: :ranting: nothing will.

You won't get an email until they actually take an action on your file - approval, denial, or RFE generated. Right now, the date change just means someone is dealing with the paperwork. No outcome until there's an outcome!

Good luck :)

And dependant on whether the online system is working properly... it is possible to get the approval e-mail even two weeks after you get the hardcopy approval notice in the mail.... been there, done that.....

YMMV

Ah yes, of course. The email system works when it does work to notify you unless it doesn't in which case it won't. So take from the online case status what you will or what you won't and know that it does and does not actually indicate any action. Making it about as clear and reliable as anything else in this process.

I feel like crying so bad today! :crying::cry:

Don't cry Sarah. I warned you cause I knew it would be hard. I also warned you about checking every day and driving yourself crazy. Even with all the support from here, there, and everywhere, sometimes it is better to step back for a while and not focus on the waiting. You will survive it and you will be fine. Just hang in there.

I should try to take this advice too! My goal was to go today without checking visajourney or uscis. And it's only 11:15 and I already failed. :(

Maybe you and I should either chat on the phone or IM each other instead of checking on our cases!
