I'm hoping that just maybe someone might be able to give me an answer from a legal standpoint. I'm a female to male transgender individual living in Arizona who's ready to begin the process of moving my Uk-residing male fiance to the US. I have been on hormone replacement therapy for years now and have documents such as my drivers permit and US government change of information form that have the correct male gender marker on them as well as a complete name change.

The only problem is that in the state of Arizona, you must have gone through at least one type of surgery (either breast removal or genital surgery) to have your birth certificate gender marker changed - and that's the only thing unchanged for me as surgery is not an option at this point. I'm just not sure what that leaves me as legally for these forms...Do I pick female for the birth certificate or male for pretty much everything else including my doctor's notes? I just want to make sure that I do this right...I'm completely prepared to give all of my documents regarding this, but this leads to the problem of not knowing which sex to put myself under and whether to go about filing as a gay couple or not.

Is there anybody who would know what to do legally, or any numbers that I could call where you think I could get a valid answer from? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

You go by what the federal government sees you as. Make sure fill out other names used and possibly add an extra page explaining that you are a non op trans.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
