I-130 and I-485 filed together..?

Hi all,

Hubby (USC) and I (foreigner on L1A) recently got married and we are now planning to complete the I-130 and I-485. I found the guide for the two and have (almost) completed my pack. I am not filing the I-765.

Only question now is for the I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vac record for the I-485 package - Assuming it needs to be filled up by the designated civil surgeon before sending the two packages together, can I immediately get a certified medical checkup and then include it in the packet or do I submit everything minus I-693 form?

Last question, I think I read somewhere that foreigner's last name in form I-485 (if taking partner's last name) should be with partner's last name and I-130 is using original last name before marriage? Is this correct? Situation is, I have not changed my SSN last name yet because they (SS) have advised me to settle the AOS and such, only then change it in the SSN.

No, you have to send I-693 with your package, otherwise you're going to get RFE. Whether you can get immediately, depends on whether certified surgeon you pick is going to have appointments available.

If you're married, and decided to use husband name, you use that name on absolutely everything you fill post marriage.

The name you use on the I-485 should be whatever name you wish to use going forward (newly married name or maiden name), and which name you wish to have appear on your green card. The same for your name on his I-130.

As stated above, if you do not submit the I-693 sealed medical examination results with your initial filing then you will be RFE'd for it, slowing down your case entirely for a few weeks at a minimum.

Presumably you aren't filing an I-765 because you already have employment authorisation through your L1A.
