That does not necessarily equate to racism or a racist cop, nor is there any evidence (yet) that racism played a roll in the michael Brown shooting.

not a racist cop. institutionalized racism within police departments. i don't think darren wilson is a racist but i don't think he would have unloaded on michael brown in broad daylight if the same confrontation had occured in a different neighborhood with different suspects.

Perhaps not, one's surroundings plays a very big role in how they behave. Perhaps in a different neighborhood a different suspect doesn't try to fight Wilson and get his gun.

I wasn't attacking the source at all. I was merely giving voice to my surprise how self-described moderate, middle of the road folk actually frequent far right wing "news" sources.

From reading the comments below the article it's quite clear what sort of people this site is aimed at.

Found this gem on there:

Teachers at a Texas School Have Come Up With A Brilliant Way To Protect Their Students From Shootings

Guess what their brilliant plan is - arm all the teachers with guns. Woo-hoo, bloody brilliant. Perhaps they can borrow a few tanks and armored cars from the local brown shirt police department. For good measure and all.

perhaps. but that's of little consequence considering my opinion on a cop's use of lethal force.

There's no doubt that cops do go above and beyond the use of necessary force on many ocaissions and it very well may have happened in this Michael Brown case, but we just don't know that to be a fact as of yet. Unfortunately many people on both sides have already made up their minds of what happened.

what side one falls on depends mostly on what they personally consider necessary force, not on what facts have been confirmed.

And that's quite a subtle thing - it's not that any individual is necessarily a outright 'I hate blacks' racist, more that there's a culture where it has become permissable to treat blacks different from the rest of the population. For law abiding blacks - that's a problem.

well that's a real basic way of faking an understanding of the racial complexities in america. police brutality is more a class issue than a racial issue, but i feel like i think that way because i'm not black. or class doesn't seem as important because racial injustices are not properly addressed, so they continue to pop up and get rehashed over and over. i haven't even been pulled over since like the year 2000 (knock on wood), but if i was getting profiled constantly and i was expected to just deal with it because of my skin color - i might end up with a heavily one sided, defensive, attitude.

It's to counter the constant barrage of stories about how racist white people are, and show that the race card has become the go to move.

Yes, there were newsletters, youtube channels, email blasts and magazine editorials.

Folk got the message.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

That's also the way a good number of folks view reality.
