If I make $47,000 a year and my fiance is pregnant, would I barely qualify? Does it matter if I started making that amount this August? I made a little less than $20,000 (foreign income) in 2013 (unemployed majority of year). I just sent my I-129F last week. Does having a 4-year degree factor into the CO decision at all?

Your credit does not follow you to the USA. Good or bad, there are a few ways to not start from scratch but many have to.

However if you ever move back to Canada, that will be an issue.

They don't ask about the Canadian's financial standing so it doesn't affect immigration.
