Is there a reason he can not use Executive Action to secure the Border?

In March 2011, the U.S. Government Accountability Office released a report, "Border Security: DHS Progress and Challenges in Securing the U.S. Southwest and Northern Borders," in conjunction with testimony from GAO Director Richard Stana.I

The report confirmed that personnel and other resources to stop illegal crossings of the U.S.-Mexico border have increased dramatically in recent years. In 2004, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was created, reorganizing several federal agencies under a single roof. That year, the agency had 10,500 agents to patrol land borders. That number now stands at nearly 21,000.

In other words, manpower has roughly doubled since 2004, as Obama said in his speech in El Paso. Again, that trend began under President Bush, whom Obama credited, but it continued under Obama. We rate Obama's statement True. [PolitiFact, 5/10/11]

AP: "The U.S.-Mexico Border Is More Fortified Now Than It Was Even Five Years Ago." A June 23, 2010, Associated Press article noted: "You wouldn't know it from the public debate, but the U.S.-Mexico border is more fortified now than it was even five years ago. Far more agents patrol it, more fences, barriers and technology protect it and taxpayers are spending billions more to reinforce it." [AP, 6/23/10]

There Are Currently More Border Patrol Agents "Than Ever Before In The History Of This Country." The Obama administration has been increasing the number of Border Patrol officers on the southern border. During a July 2010 hearing of the House Committee on Homeland Security, U.S. Border Patrol chief Michael Fisher said, "Currently we have over 20,000 Border Patrol Agents nationwide, more than ever before in the history of the country."

Based on Department of Homeland Security data, The Arizona Republic created the following chart showing the increase in border patrol agents since 2011.

So he increased the numbers of meeters and greeters.

Not what I asked.

Secure the border first. That's what was supposed to happen. What did 0bola do?

He opened the gates and rewarded illegals.

What about all those lawbreakers now living in the USA?

What did 0bola do?

Why, he welcomes them will freebies and foodstamps, and free American taxpayer money. How about that? Isn't that sweet!

Dude just stop, your making yourself look like a fool. You have no facts besides a picture that you found from a website "heritage.com" (they are anti-immigrant) and you just talking out of your mouth. Whatever Obama does tomorrow, you and whoever else is against it can't stop it, he's using a executive order within his power, his lawyers study what he can and can't do, so it won't be challenged in court and DHS help as well to firgure out what options are available to use.

When Ronald Reagan, Bush Snr and Bush jnr implemented this same program we heard crickets from clowns making noise right now in Congress.

Whoa: someone slept through history class. All those predecessors ran their immigration plans through Congress. Remember Congress? The peoples' representatives? This guy's just a no-class lowlife dictator. <_<

I guess Ebola is no longer the raining news

Maybe you mean "reigning news", cuz this is the "raining news". You're welcome.

Dude, that was then and this is now.

Apparently the only measure to be adopted this year will be a break for some parents and children of USCs who are in the country without LPR status. They won't get a greencard and there is no path to citizenship - whatever that misnomer means in the context of immigration reform. Whether it becomes to law or not will be decided by the next congress in 2015. In a way Obama has pulled a major coup on the GnOP. Next year they will either have to let these measures remain or repeal them. It'll be interesting to watch all the tap dancing when congress finally has to make a decision on such a hot item.

Get the popcorn and the remote. It'll be interesting, to say the least.

Absolutely nothing will happen. Stop your unfounded hysteria. I guess Ebola is no longer the raining news we have moved to the next shiny object. ...immigration. When Ronald Reagan, Bush Snr and Bush jnr implemented this same program we heard crickets from clowns making noise right now in Congress.

Interesting: None of the major broadcasters ( ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox ) will be carrying the preznit's imperial diktat tonight, announcing his repeal of the Constitution. Even more interesting: the white house didn't even request air time!

Wouldn't want the Royal Proclamation spoiled by reactions from the peasants, now would we? <_<

Of course, smuggling people illegally across the border is big business.

The President just gives them more boost to ramp up the business.

Don't see how Mexico has the will to fix their own problems.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

It has been since Reagan signed the amnesty bill back in the 80's and left the border completely unprotected. It is unlikely this administration will change that or that any administration after this one will.

However, a new congress will be inaugurated in January, so you can count on border and illegal immigration ceasing to be an issue worth the news.
