Wow.. I thought we had all the question resolved and are ready to file our I-130 for CR1. But there are still few question which popped up yesterday night. I am sorry folks for asking so many question. Thank you very much with all the helpful replies.

  • i have a question about the nepali marriage certificate. (our nepali marriage certificate has one copy in Nepali language and another one in english. That's how nepali marriage certificate are) since it is in a foreign language and english as well...do you think i need to get a translation expert to certify it says what it says or do you think the english copy will do?
  • so there are four questions that needed additional space for the answers. Do you think i need to put each question on a separate page or do you think if it all fits on one page that i can send just one page??

I look forward to hear from you guys. Thank you very much for all the support.

1. If the official cert is in english as well as Nepali, no translation needed.

2. If you can comfortably fit it on one page, I'd do that- less chance of them loosing something.

I don't know if this helps but I got a RFE cuz my marriage certificate was in English & not Hindi. My original marriage certificate was drafted in English & therefore I sent that in. So I don't understand why they would ask me for a legible copy with foreign language in it?

Anyways coming to the point, I think you should sent in both copies incase you end up getting RFE like me, but my case is slightly different cuz I don't have a marriage certificate that was issued in Hindi. So I just replied them with another copy & got it notarized stating it's a true copy & explained them that the original is in English language only.

Yeah just send both marriage certificates. Assuming the Nepali one is the original and the English one is an international version (in Germany this is offered as well) they'll be wanting both copies.

Like Penguin said, try to fit it all on one page. Just be sure to properly mark which question which answer is referring to.

The other commenters are correct - send in both COPIES. Do NOT send in the originals with the I-130 step. I made a copy of the front and back of our certificate.

You will be required to send in the originals (or certified copies) during the NVC process (after the I-130 process).
