Delay? Do I need to do something?

I'm in the process of getting my Green Card. We filed the I-130 back in April and this is all we have heard so far dated April 25, 2014:

"Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Nebraska Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number LINxxxxxxxxxx. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your case using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status.

This confirmation provides notification of the date USCIS received your case. This notice does NOT grant any immigration status or benefit. You MAY NOT present this notice as evidence that you have been granted any immigration status or benefit. Further, this notice does NOT constitute evidence that your case remains pending with USCIS. The current status of your case must be verified with USCIS.

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE"

A few days after that we received the I-797.

That's it.

From what we could gather the next thing we would hear would be in about 5 months, however I've been reading on here a lot lately and it seems that that is not the case. I'm pretty sure that we should have heard something else by now.

We were married on Jan 12,2014 and decided to take a 3 month honeymoon in Israel, (where we met) while we were waiting out the 5 months. We are presently in Israel. We have people checking for mail to us regularly back home and signed up for electronic notifications.

What do I need to do? We've been checking out case status and it says "Initial Review"

You can give them a call, but if i'm reading the processing time correct, you're still under their allowed time for processing

After your I-797 Notice of Action 1, you either get a Request For Evidence, or it moves on to another stage. If there are no problems with your case, you should go from Initial Review to Decision or Post-Decision Activity. The last thing you see on the website is the last correspondence they have had with you. ANYTHING that happens with them, whether it is changing an address or sending you something will show be e-mailed or shown to you on the website.

If you haven't heard anything after the 5 month date you sent it in and it was received, they should tell you whats going on.

They just sent your case to a service center. It could still take months.

Ok good. I guess my confusion was in expecting something that said NOA1 on it. Maybe the I-797 did and I just missed it. It's a relief to know that we haven't made this process longer than it needs to be by inaction on our part. Thanks for the reassurance!

NOA1 is VJ vernacular for receipt notice. Such a notice is the I-797.

While we're on the subject, NOA2 is VJ vernacular for decision notice, also appearing on an I-797.

The I-797 is the same as the NOA1. We received our NOA1/I-797 notice for our I-130 on March 18th, and we are still waiting to be approved.

Though to get really technical, the NOA1 is the I-797C and the NOA2 is the I-797. At least, that's what I'm reading on our ones. Is there any difference? Probably just the I-797 has fancy birth-certificate-style paper and that warrants removing the C.
