My guess the lawyer.

Well, in this case it is not a "required" thing. You can let your husband talk to the lawyer and figure something else out for example your marriage certificate, or anything else they can work out.

There you go.

If you have been married less than two years send up to 5 of the following documents listing both your and your spouses name:
Tax returns
Bank statements
Leases / Mortgage documents
Medical insurance cards/statements
Utility bills
Auto insurance cards/statements
Wedding invitation
Children’s birth certificates
Also send 4-8 color photocopies of photographs of you and your spouse at your wedding
If you and your spouse do not reside at the same address please contact the Project Manager
Got this from my husband thru email.

So sounds like your husband was contacted by his company's immigration attorney.

I think the attorney is just asking for standard list of things to build up the evidence,

and obviously you can't send what you don't have.

I think these evidences might be good to provide...

1. Joint account - Bank, Stock, Credit/Debit Cards, Utility, Telephone, Car loans, house loans,

Health insurance, Car insurance, etc.

2. Also if he has life insurance, show proof that you are one of the beneficiaries.

Actually, this applies any financial account that require beneficiary information.

3. Even without the wedding picture, engagement ring & receipt would be good.

4. Pictures with families and friends to show that your marriage is publicized

5. Other proofs that you are living together.

6. And definitely marriage certificate (this is really what makes you two legally married)

.

Timeline

My husband and I did not have anyone from our families at our wedding. We had a minister and a witness and that is all - we sent in pictures of us together in the times we saw each other on visits. Which there were not many, we were too busy hanging out ( we weren't thinking about "how are going to prove a relationship in the future!)

I added my husband as the beneficiary of my life insurance and retirement savings accounts after we were married.

One time when he visited we were able to add him to one of my bank accounts even without him having an SSN or ITIN. (chase bank)

For us, we had never lived together and since he did not have an SSN, it was harder to show mixed finances/lease/insurance and things like that.

However, gather everything you have and as you keep going in your relationship work towards getting more of the things on the list.

Got this from my husband thru email.

Note the UP TO 5 items... that may be key to this problem. A marriage certificate is proof of a wedding. If you have no photos I would suggest a notarized letter stating the circumstances of your wedding, the reason no photos were taken, and hopefully a notarized document from someone who was present at the ceremony. (Court clerk, judge, etc???) Good luck
