Best way to ship a package to the Ukraine from the US

Hey team. Live in the US and my fiancee lives in Nikolaev Ukraine. Is there a best / cheapest way to send her a care package from the US? During my trip there, found out that her daughters love the spicy Jack Link's Beef Jerky and some of the US Candy. It was hilarious when I got my fiancee and her daughter to say that the Beef Jerky was actually frog meat to her older daughter after she had a mouthful of it (she hates frogs). It was hilarious the look on her face but that is a story for another time.

Any words of advice would be great.

Thanks.

Hi,

It depends how long are you willing to wait for your package to get there.

We send a care package to our family in UA all the time and newer send it via USPS because its unbelievably expensive. We send packages that are 60-70lbs so you can imagine how much would that cost at USPS. We use a service here in the states called "Meest America Inc"

They ship large packages via a boat so the only down side is that it takes 2 months to get there. Up side is that you can send giant packages for very cheep and they do home delivery anywhere in Ukraine. It is about 79 cents per pound plus couple bucks for delivery to their door.

Hope this helps a little.

USPS is hit or miss. Sometimes you get things there in 2 and half weeks, sometimes it might take a few months. Meest was great, stuff got there in a week and half and they deliver to the house and don't make you go to the post office to pick it up (they call the person to arrange delivery time). It's also cheaper than USPS for anything but the lightest of light packages (USPS will be cheaper for the priority mail flat rate envelope, but that's pretty much it). If you don't need to get it there fast, you can also ship via Meest by sea and it will take a month or so, but will be even cheaper. If you don't have a Meest office in your town, you can Fedex packages to their office and then they'll ship it over.

Our family uses Meest all the time and i didnt know you can send packages in 2 weeks or so i thought its only 2 months by ship.

Thank you for the info!

I have sent a few USPS and I hate to say the prices have risen quite a bit, they no longer offer the cheaper ground shipping to Europe. Of course my wife will wait till the last minute to say we have to send a package. DHL might also be an option but you have to find an office first. I think I will try meest next time.

We use USPS'and so far have been satisfied. Nothing too big, so if we have something larger will look into MEEST. As to the USPS, the last shipment was there in less than two weeks (Karsnoyarsk, Russia). In previous shipments, I found it longer, but that was mostly due to Russian postal service from Moscow to Krasnoyarsk, the packages arrived in Moscow in less than five days.

A recent post has been split from this thread and has been given the topic title "Shipping to Ukraine from the U.S.  [split topic]."

Thread from 2014 is now closed to further comment.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
