Hi all,

I had my interview 2 days ago - you can read about it here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/489108-april-2014-aos-filers/page-6#entry7160707

I adjusted from F1, never overstayed and am currently at the end of my OPT, so my case was very straight forward without any red flags (we're the same age, have been together for 6 years and had enough bona fide evidence). After the interview, all the officer told us was, "This concludes the interview. If you don't hear from us after 120 days, make an appointment." The interview was easy-going and the officer was very friendly.

I know that a final decision can take time and am not too worried about it, but my question is the following: we did not receive a letter that said "your case is being held for further review" or anything similar and she did not explain ROC nor did she say anything else except the above quote about the 120 days - is this fairly common or do most people receive a letter/notice after the interview?

We were told at the interview that we were approved and got a notice that my green card went into production before we made it back to the car. Did you check your I-485 status online? I know sometimes it doesn't get updated, but it usually does, especially for approvals. Keeping an eye on it might be your best bet for right now.

Good luck! :)

2-3 days is nothing, someone has waited for years. They don't have to give you anything but as you said, they might give you a note but they didn't. Be patient and pray.

Of course; I am patient and know that there might be a long wait ahead of us or we might get a notice any day now.

My question was simply about how common it is to not get any kind of letter about whether the case is either approved or held for further review. I probably should have put that part first. :) Everything I read on the forum was about people receiving a letter at the end of the interview but I don't know if that's the norm or not. You said it's not, so that helps. Thanks!

I did check and also signed up for the online notifications. No change.

I just read that most people get a letter handed to them if they have not been approved on the spot.

Congratulations. :)

Thanks! :)

Just to clarify, even if you get approved I haven't heard of people getting anything on the spot (like a letter or any kind of document). If you are approved, you get a GC a week or so later, and I-485/I-130 Notices of Approval, but all in the mail and nothing at the interview itself (that I've heard of).

Sometimes they hold off approval until a check is done on some info, or if you added anything during the interview that wasn't submitted in the application that they want to look into further. It's actually not uncommon.

Hope this helps!

We are in the same category. I am a USC petitioning for my spouse, who is under the F1 Student Visa. We had our interview in July 2014 and we were issued an RFE at the interview (they needed school attendance records). The IO said everything else was in order and that she knows are marriage was real. Needless to say, the I485 was not approved that day, although the I130 got approved. We sent off the RFE the same day attention to her at the local USCIS office and are waiting.

That's frustrating, though RFEs always seem to always take sometime.

I brought my transcripts with me but she didn't ask for it. No update yet but it's only been a little over a week. I hope we won't have to wait too much longer.

Thanks, everybody!
