221(g) for Police Clearance

My wife was approved at her interview...pending the "receipt" of her Hong Kong Police Clearance. Her status on CEAC is AP. Hong Kong sent the Police Clearance on 7/9. Wife's interview was 7/25. They gave her a 221 with instructions to satisfy the paperwork requirements (police clearance) and send the 221 with requested paperwork through 2GO tot he Embassy. Police clearances are sent directly to the Embassy from the Issuing police organization. According to Hong Kong, the Embassy has received the Police Clearance (registered mail). The embassy wasn't all that clear on what my wife is supposed to do with the 221 since there isn't anything that she can send!

Has anyone experienced this? What did you do?

Hi Ed and Gina,

I had similar experience regarding the police clearance but mine was from Singapore police. The clearance was received at the embassy a day before my interview. Gave me 221G without stating they need any other document.

What I suggest for you to do as the petitioner, you can actively email the embassy asking for updates and also give them attachment/ proof that the police clearance was sent to the embassy prior to interview.

Hope this helps I know AP is frustrating.

USEM will verify through email that they got HK police clearance. They did so for us..

What exactly did the 221(g) say? Can you post it here? Please block all personal data like name and MNL number for your security. There has to be something on it to tell you what you need to do.

She has the paper...I'll have her email a copy of it to me. Did you get a 221(g) after your interview for that? Then they emailed you when they had it or finally put it in your file?

No we did not because I sent them email to verify that it got there pre-interview. Apparently you did not do that.. USEM will not on their own send you the verification. You have to email them and ask.

Yeah we got the same damn form, the courier letter thing. However they didn't explain what it was or how to use it. Worse for us she needs a korean police clearance and occording to the site they gave us it says they do not issue them for people not in the country.
