  1. Hello, My husband had his interview (Tunisia ) on late August. His interview was approved. But according to the consular officer the DS-5535 was needed to issue his visa. He was given 221g sheet and asked to fill out DS-5535 Supplemental Questions as soon as possible. He was told that the form will be sent to Washington DC for a review. We got the DS5535 form on the same day of his interview (appx. after 2 hours). We filled out and send back to them on same day. After sending the form, we sent an email to confirm that they received and send the form to Department of State. We got confirmation email on next day of interview that they received the form and sent to Department of State. He was told that his case now is under Administrative Processing. Since then, we have not seen any status or date update on CEAC website. It's been exactly 40 days passed since the interview. I was wondering if anyone been through same process before? I know the process does not have a fix time and it varies US consulate. My question is, will that be helpful to involve my local congressman or senator in this situation? What rights do we have in order to get an update in our case status? Thank you
  2. VISA WAS REFUSED WITHOUT ANY REASON PASSPORT WAS RETURNED WITHOUT VISA! Category: CR1 changed to IR1 PD: 4 jan 19 RFE: 23 jan 20 DQ: 8 April 20 Expedited interview: 17 nov 20 Salam, this group has been really helpful for my application, I had my interview on 17th nov and it went well CO asked alot of questions and kept my passport only and gave me a green paper only and said congratulations your visa has been approved, after interview I checked my visa status at CEAC it showed refused which I thought was normal, I received email to collect my passport from VFS and when I opened the package there was no visa on my passport, there was a paper which said we are returning your passport at your pre-selected address, I called the embassy they told me to email them which i did, so my question is has that happened to anyone? After approval at interview getting refused without any reason no 221g and returned the passport Thank you in advance
  3. October 12, 2019 - Filed for AOS, EAD, and AP October 24, 2019 - Received NOA1 for above filings March 27, 2020 - Received EAD/AP combo card September 28, 2020 - Filed for renewal of EAD/AP combo card (including one form G-1125 for both forms I-765 and I-131) September 30, 2020 - EAD/AP renewal forms received by USCIS lockbox, Phoenix October 19, 2020 - It's been three weeks, and still no NOA1 acknowledging action on application for EAD/AP renewal When first filed in 2019, it took only 12 days to receive NOA1. Now it's been 21 days and still no NOA1. Am I wrong to expect that USCIS will even send me a NOA1 for EAD/AP renewal applications? I did fill out two forms G-1125.
  4. Hi, I applied for CR1 visa (Spousal Sponsorship) and my interview was in 2012. After the interview my case was placed in Administrative processing. Finally after almost a year, the AP was completed and US consulate in Montreal requested the passport. I sent the passport but after a few days I received an email from the consulate that I have to visit the US consulate again to re-take the Oath. Does anyone know what this means? I already had my interview last year. They didn't ask me to bring any documents. Please clarify. Thank you for your help. FEZ
  5. Hi everyone! the waiting game for the AOS+EAD+AP is killing me and I was thinking of going back into flight school to do a course and keep myself current. Does any of you know if I can do it with my pending status? I already have the basic American flight licences so I already got the TSA clearance done, if I wanted I know I can go and rent a helicopter and go for a fun flight. Just wondering if I can enrol in a class as well.. Thank you all in advance!
  6. Hello everyone, My priority date for I-130, I-485 and I-765 is April 3rd. None of those have been approved and I submitted the I-131 on November 27th. Is the I-131 still going to take 5 months (or more), or is the fact that they have already been working on all my other cases make it faster? I would assume they can take my Biometrics from the I-765 done in October 21st, same background check, and more information from other forms. Please share any similar experiences. Thank you!!
  7. ASKING FOR A FRIEND!! Hello everyone! I am asking this question on behalf of my friend, S and her husband, A. S & A got married in January 2018, and filed for CR1 in May 2018 through a lawyer. Then, in May 2019, A had his interview at ISLAMABAD Embassy and he got a 221g slip and they asked for tax transcripts, W-2, and chats but kept his passport. Then in July 2019, S physically went to embassy in Pakistan to ask on update and they said they have all the documents and its in process and will take a few weeks to months. the CEAC said its under administrative processing. Then, she kept contacting the embassy and involved the local senator twice too, and they got the same reply, "it's in process." until today, its the same status on the website and embassy won't give her any update on the case if her documents are accepted or not. Then after a long wait in Sept 2020, she tried finding another lawyer to see what can be done about her case because it's out of normal processing time. When the new lawyer checked with the NVC, she discovered that the old lawyer had not signed his "preparer" section/ put his appearance as a lawyer initially while filing the case and that NVC had reopened her case after being at embassy for so long. also, they discovered the lawyer had also missed questions about terrorism on the DS260 form. Now... they also discovered another issue with A's name on passport (only one name apparently)... So, now, the new lawyer gave her presence in the application, sent more pictures of the couple, and more evidence about her marriage to the NVC via email... and waiting for NVC's reply... (current status) this is such a messed up situation for them. What should she do in this case? Should she re-apply her application or appeal or what? please give serious suggestions/opinions/ advice and share what can be done to speed her process... its been almost 3 years since she got married and he's in AP since 18 months now post interview... She is really depressed and doesn't know what do.... please help. thanks... @sm2397
  8. I had my biometrics appointment August 19. Just wondered how long it would take to hear anything about EAD and AP?

  10. My husband has been in AP in Islamabad since April 2019, 1 day after interview received dd5535 filed and returned, last update was 11/2019 after we sent inquiry, no updates since even after we’ve sent inquiry a couple times in December. So over Islamabad and their process 🥺
  11. Hello, I feel that there is no 1 thread to share experience and timelines for AP. It's a frustrating time so it might be helpful to share timelines and experiences to get a feel. ----------------- Our case: Interview (10/9/2018) went very well but was given a white 221g for missing documents - proof of domicile and I864A Was asked to send my passport with the missing papers. We provided all missing documents 2 days after and sent the passport as well. The passport was returned to me few days later. We have been in AP since. We were planning on being in the US by now but this is not happening now, and it's very frustrating since I am pregnant and wanted to buy a house and get it ready before the baby is born! What has been your experience so far?
  12. I'm sure this has been asked before, just want to clarify. Hubby and I want to go too Hawaii for a little getaway. I've only recently sent in my AOS package including my EAD and AP. Will it be an issue traveling to Hawaii and returning? I assume not because Hawaii is part of the States. Just want to know if anyone has had any experience or troubles with this? Thanks in advance.
  13. I made a note to myself to be sure to come back here to Visa Journey to share with you all my experience with my filing of the writ of mandamus, whether the results would be good or bad, as I am hoping many of you, who were stuck like me, get the resolve you deserve. I noticed no one has documented enough about it so I'm happy to be the first. My Writ of Mandamus that my lawyer filed forced the Jordanian Embassy to make a decision on our case since being stuck in AP since September 2019. It was a SUCCESS. My fiancé picked up his Visa this morning. Before I get into the process, how long it took, who I hired, etc, I will breakdown my timeline first below. I'm asking the senior and regular active members here to try to refrain from continuously sharing FALSE information about WoM. In the past several weeks I have read numerous comments from many of the senior members on other WoM posts DISCOURAGING people to move forward yet admitting to not knowing much about it or how it works. First of all you are not lawyers. Try not discourage on a subject you don't know much about. That's what petitioners and beneficiaries should seek legal consultations for. No two WOM's are alike. Only a lawyer can tell you if you are a good candidate and hopefully, you will consult with a lawyer like mine who insisted he see the petition and hear our case before agreeing. So here is my timeline and what happened with my WOM: - Visa Category, K-1 - Fiance's consulate Interview was 9/8/2019 (I-129F petition filed 3/23/2018) - Agent at window advised we need to wait for a call that would "come in shortly" and returned passport - Numerous emails sent to the Embassy inquiring what they needed with no response - October 31, 2019 received an email from embassy asking for proof of relationship....we sent the same exact package they returned to us 10 minutes before his interview. Only thing we added were a few more photos - No updates or word from them until January 2020 where I saw several updates on CEAC, no communication. - February 2020 pandemic hit, no word. AP changed to REFUSED - Researched writ of mandamus just in case we didn't hear anything soon and in fear pandemic will drag our case - April 2020 located the best lawyer for me with long successful track record and paid for a 30 minutes consultation. After hearing my story and seeing my case, he accepted my case. - May 15th I started my case. - May 22nd my case was sent to the 8 agencies my lawyer was suing. They have 60 days to respond. - Those 8 agencies are: USCIS, DEPT OF STATE, DEPT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, US CONSULATE AMMAN JORDAN, SECRETARY OF THE DEPT OF DEPT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, THE DIRECTOR OF USCIS, SECRETARY OF STATE, CHARGE' D'affaires of the US CONSULATE AMMAN JORDAN. - June 29, my fiance receives a call from the US Embassy Amman asking him to update his Medical and send it in with his passport. We wait. - July 18, Passport is sent back to my fiance with a list of 10 questions (similar to DS-5535) and to email responses back and wait for a call. Paper states it can take 2-6 weeks. - July 18 also, US Attorney emails my lawyer and asks for a 60 day extension since its close to deadline. Judge also grants it. - July 23, I email the responses to the 10 questions to Embassy. - August 26, Embassy calls my fiance back to resend his passport again - September 2, my lawyer receives an email from the US Attorney advising him that the Visa has been issued and CEAC status changes an hour later to "ISSUED" - September 3, my fiance tracks the tracking number and sees Visa is already at Aramex and goes picks it up. It took a total of about 3 1/2 months from the time they were served to finish. Definitely worth it. I have read some members giving incorrect information that the WoM could cost around $15,000 and read other outrageous numbers. It does not. I checked numerous lawyers before hiring mine and have received quotes anywhere from $4000 to $8000. Definitely have not heard more. I paid for my consultation which was then applied towards my WoM. My lawyer charged me on the lower end than most. I hired Jim Hacking of The Hacking Law Firm. I would only recommend him. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions. Wishing you all love and happiness!
  14. Hi all, My EAD/AP combo card expires in the end of October this year while my AOS is still pending. After reading several threads and USCIS's guideline, it seems that 2 passport photos are needed for both EAD and AP renewal. Does it mean that I have to send 4 passport pictures for total? or just 2 pictures will be fine?

  17. I don’t know where it’s written or if it’s even written, but pertaining to a WoM (Writ of Mandamus), what do you all think a federal judge considers to be an UNREASONABLE length of administrative processing when considering the WoM?
  18. Hi! Is anyone in Kabul Afghanistan under AP? Has anyone gotten a visa that was under AP recently?
  19. My husband filed for his EAD and AP separately. However the EAD and AP arrived about 3 weeks apart(no combo card). Due to COVID related USCIS closings and backlog, it looks like we won't have our AOS interview anytime soon. He will need to renew both the EAD and AP. We want to know: 1. When should he start to file for his EAD and AP? 180 days or 90 days before they both expire ? 2. Is it possible for him to file for both the EAD and AP at the same time and receive a combo card?
  20. I am in AP since 21 feb 2020. The message below the refuse status has changed on 1st june. Whats the difference. Am i refused now????
  21. Hey, I applied for K1 visa for my fiance back in December of 2017. My fiance had his interview on 24th September. He was requested to submit his Facebook id, his phone numbers, addresses, and places he had worked at. We submitted all the information the next day of interview. Ever since September 24th 2018 his case is in AP. I am so frustrated I don't know what to do? I am US citizen and he lives in Pakistan.
  22. I read at many articles it states that consulates have suspended "in person" activities and interviews. Does anyone have any experience knowledge ir updates on their AP cases ever since covid19 Closures? Do you, or anyone you know, have gotten their visa or passport after being in AP cases during covid19? Curious to know if islamabad consulates are still working on ADMIN PROCESS since they arent "physical - in person" activities, which can be done remotely! Thanks and good luck.
  23. Is it normal to be not told you are on "Administrative Processing"? My fiance had her interview on January and was approved, and still did not get her visa. They did not say anything about being on ap, but when we check the CEAC website it just says "ready".
  24. Hello I was having B1/B2 interview in Islamabad at 5th March 2020. Till yesterday status was Refused but now i checked it says ISSUED (25 March) and mentioned: Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it in more than 10 working days, please see the webpage for contact information of the embassy or consulate where you submitted your application. For more information, please visit U.S. Embassy Islamabad. What does it mean? Issues mean passport is issued or visa is issued? What you think due to Corona they are rejecting it? as i heard AP take alot of time? Anyone face same issue please share experience. & if ISSUED mean Visa issued then how rejection is shown. Because i didnt see anyone posted that my status was REFUSED and then i got call to pickup. Please explain both cases. ill be grateful Thanks
