Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada

Event Description
Review Date : August 8, 2015
Embassy Review : On July 28, I had my interview. It was scheduled at 10am.
My husband and our little 2 1/2 little girl were with me, I brought my husband with me coz I need help for my little girl plus i am 6 months pregnant.
We were at the Consulate around 9:15am then a lady with folder on hand asked me what time is my interview and i said 10am. So she asked us to be back after 9:30am.
There is a Starbucks across the street so we stayed there for couple minutes then back at 9:45am. Same lady came out from the door and called those have appointments at 10:00am and gave me an applicant number.

The security asked me if I was only the applicant. He told me my husband and our little girl will wait for me outside. I am only the person allowed to go in. I didn't say any word but to follow.
Next step was the security procedure. There was an officer asked me to put my bag with documents and said this is heavy. He saw that I am pregnant and ai told him that my husband was turned away with our girl and they are outside. The officer told me to go and call them and talk again the security officer that was on duty. This time he let him/ them in.
They held my phone and car keys , headsets, and lunchbox with lights and gave me a ticket number.

We went down thru the stairs to elevator and went up to 19th floor.
We stayed at the middle as instructed. Chairs for applicants for immigrant visa.

We waited until 12nn. till I was called to window 1. We were called by my applicant number.
A nice lady asked me to give original updated Affidavit of support, Tax transcripts 2014, civil documents, pictures, passports old and new, police clearances. All originals. only a copy of my passport was asked. Then after that we were asked to sit and wait for the CO to call us again.
Gave me a paper about domestic violence asked me to read it.

In 5mins my number were called again to go to window 8.
CO: Read the posted info on the left. ( reminder about telling the truth and perjury)
Me: I read it Sir.
Then he started asking questions:
1. Aside from Us, have you been to any other country. ( Yes sir, in Singapore.)
2. how long did you stay there?
3. did you go back after 2006?

He asked my husband: Where do you live right now?
when did you come to Canada for this trip? Last Sunday sir.
Is your daughter a Us citizen too? Yes sir.

That was it. he gave me a welcome letter and instructions about how to get the visa.
* No pictures asked nor proof of employment but it's better to bring because according to the CO it depends upon the officer who assigned to interview you. Better to be ready than sorry.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
