What Documents needed for Spouse "wife" CR-1?

I am the Petitioner writing this on behalf of my Wife who is a Filipina ( Philippines). I read something on the Guides section of this forum about what docs are needed and now i am confused.

When filing for a CR-1 visa to the United States, the guide says i am to mail with the AOS packet my Wife's Birth cert NSO, police clearance, passport bio, and marriage cert NSO.

Can these documents only be COPYs or do i need to have her send me certified copies to me in the mail before i sent off the AOS?

You send it with your IV packet, they are supposed to be originals or certified with a photo copy for each.

Oh yes...its the IV packet sorry. MMm ok so i need to tell her to mail me all these Docs to me

What is the difference between a certified copy and the original?

Certified copy is like, say your main embassy or consulate or some government official would issue it with a seal or notorized king of. It's kind of to avoid sending originals but don't forget to add photocopies atleast two so you avoid getting a checklist for it.

why don't she just mail it here from the philippines? she only need the barcoded sheet for the IV packet. need to send the NSO plus a photocopy of each. don't forget NBI clearance...

if she can, request for 2 NSO copies of each (birth and marraige certificate), so that she will still have a copy on hand. though NVC will forward all the documents at USEM on her interview, it is still safer if she has originals on hand. and additional,ask her also to file for CENOMAR (tho you still don't need it at NVC stage) but definitely they will ask for it on her interview.

again, like what i did, i sent the IV packet from here (manila,philippines) viaUPS - i paid 1600 pesos i think...
