Just called the toll free number provided in their automatic reply. There is no one available to answer live, but there is an option to leave a message (which I did) and they would call back the next day. Р

Hi - could you advise if you submitted any type of documentation with your request? I've received an email today from CIS asking for documents. I am not sure if they are asking for NOA1 or anything else. Thanks.

It sounds like something was not uploaded - but I didn't even try... I was not sure what...

Hi, I am December filler with noa1 from 12/26. tomorrow is 7 month of waiting. :clock: I submitted e-request back in June and received the following response on July 3rd:

"We have placed your case on a processing hold because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case."

Did anyone have the same response and how long did it take you to receive noa2?

I am in the same boat. Just got a reply from an E-request that the security checks are pending. It's been 6.5 months since our NOA1...!

My fiance has never been in the US or applied for a visa, so this is probably an unlucky false name hit in some database for me. From what I've read it seems to add at least an extra couple of months to the process. So depressing, I was really hoping to have him here by Christmas!

We've been waiting over 7 months too...I know how you guys feel...

the only thing that can be possibly an issue is that I have dual citizenship and I have applied like 5 years ago for tourist visa on one passport and denied for no specified reason..and years later I got a second citizenship and passport...which I can travel under ESTA...I have been to the US using this passport 4 times already...

but I researched before applying and it says that's no problem...

but I don't know why is this taking soo long! this is just crazy...I wish they could at least give us a decent reason...I have nothing....not even e-request reply...nothing

Did you submit e-request? I received replies to both requests (see my signature for details). Unfortunately replies didn't have any useful information. If you haven't received a reply from USCIS how do you know that your case is pending due to security checks?

We submitted e-request..but it only says expect a reply by August 25th...so we are just waiting...I didn't say we are on security checks whatsoever!

I was just trying to figure out why our process is taking so long....I haven't had any reply from USCIS nor our senator yet.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Hopefully you will get a response from USCIS soon then, so at least you will know why there is a delay. I would recommend to contact your congressman. They seem to be getting quicker responses from USCIS.

From my understanding, one will get extra scrutiny for the security checks if they're in any sort of sensitive position. I suppose the government is worried about people with security clearances or working in sensitive industries having a close relationship with a foreign national. I wonder if the nationality of the fiance has anything to do with it as well

No sensitive position at all. My job doesn't have anything to do with government and/or military and does not require any security clearances. Nationality might, however I don't believe Azerbaijan is considered as high risk country...people get approved from far worth countries (no offence please). My name is pretty unique, so there shouldn't be any problems with FBI name check. My fiance's name is more common, but again - shouldn't be a problem. So who knows why security check...I've said it numerous times now - so frustrating that we don't know why and how long it might take...we are stuck indefinitely...:(

There was one couple from November (search for November 2013 TSC thread) with beneficiary also from Philippines and they just recently got approved.

No sensitive work here, both my fiancé and I work in marketing. No criminal history, children or divorces. We've been on security checks for over a month now, and I don't think it can have anything to do with nationality, I'm British.

I honestly think it just comes down to a hit on a name, somewhere in the world there is criminal/witness etc with a similar or same name to ours, and it can take longer as the FBI has to track down particular documents anywhere in the US to complete the process.

Just my guess though!
