Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 18, 2014
Embassy Review : Just had my interview! and we were approved! after almost a year in this process..
I arrived in Rio the day before..and from the airport went straight to the hotel. I stayed at hotel Ok. honestly...it is just ok...the hallways smell like pee...and it very noisy outside...but the room is clean. I tried going to bed early...but I was too anxious to sleep. I kept waking up every hour. I woke up at 5 got ready and had breakfast at the hotel...and then walked to the consulate..there were 2 lines..and at first I was standing at the tourist visa line..but then I was informed fiance visa is on the other side. So I was waiting in line..I was the second. I left my phone with the people on the street..it's quite safe. and then around 7:20 they let everyone in..our interview was scheduled at 7: 40..I wasn't sure about what time it was cause I had no watch. we all went upstairs to the second floor and the guy with the red shirt asked us to fill in the forms. It's good to have a small cheating paper to ease the process. I was the first one to finish, the guy checked all my documents...I don't know why on earth they ask for duplicates.....they returned me the extra copy......waste pf papers...
and then...he said I should wait...and then a lady calls my name to the window..and gets ny finger prints and double checks the documents....more documents returned....
and she tells me to go downs stairs to pay the fee...but the cashier wasn't even open...I had to wait until 8:30...paid the fee...and went upstairs again...the guy asked to wait on the second row....about 10 mins later they called my name I was the first one to be interviewed..the consul was nice looking...but I dont know why...he looked like he just got there...and wasnt sure of what to do first....I had to swear an oath....and then he checked my finger prints...and them he said..ops I forgot you have to take another oath...and this one was about getting married within 90 days. it was weird because a second guy stood next to him and kept looking through my forms, which made me more nervous...he seemed like more experienced..maybe his supervisor..
and after that..were the same questions...
how do you know him?
when did you first see each other?
did your fiance visit you?
did he propose?
where did you learn english?
he asked me how I got into the US since I had a denied visa in the past...and then he realized that I had dual citizenship...so I didn't have to answer...
and after that he said...so your visa is approved you can go outside to pay the sedex.
it was so early that I had to wait until the post office opened.
yes...the interview part was easy peasy...
I took 3 huge folders for nothing.....haha

I was done by 9:20ish...and came to the airport..fortunately they had seats on an early flight otherwise I would have to wait 7 hours...

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
