Leaving the US between marriage and AOS submission?

Hello all,

I understand once you enter the US on your K1 visa, you then have 90 days to get married and you are not supposed to leave the country until you do. However, once you've got married, can you leave the US for a week or so, and then submit your AOS application once you've come back without any problems?

Leaving is not the hard part, you can leave at any time.

However, if you would like to return to the US "without any problems" one needs a green card or an advanced parole document.

Thanks for the replies, I figured that these would be the answers. I just wanted to check as I wouldn't have had time to apply for an advanced parole document. Think I'm going to have to postpone my interview. Rats.

If you didn't get married you may actually be able to do visa revalidation: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1218/~/automatic-revalidation-for-certain-temporary-visitors

Note that this is only possible if you departed to Mexico, Canada, or certain islands, and then immediately wished to return. Someone looked into this here a while ago but the fact that they were married meant they were not able to do so. Even so, this is a stretch. You are probably better off changing your interview.

You have 6 months after medical date to use the visa, could you do the interview then just wait to go to the US?
