Hi all, I am new to posting here, but have gotten a lot of help from reading the forums and info on this site. I am trying to finish all of our I-129F paperwork in the coming days. I am unsure of whether I should have a separate statement of proof of having met in the past two years and proof of an ongoing relationship or whether this should all be crammed on one page if possible.

I spent all but a few months of our relationship living and studying in Austria where my fiance is from, so we have spent the great majority of a year and a half together and have lots of proof of our relationship. We have a couple of major trips (to Spain and Budapest, and him visiting me in the US) that I am planning to use as evidence of having met (with plane/train/bus tickets, other tickets, pictures, etc), but we were also planning to include evidence of the rest of our relationship beyond that. Should I include a separate statement describing our ongoing relationship beyond those couple of trips with evidence (pictures, e-mails, chats, skype logs, etc)? In this, I would also include our engagement (picture, ring receipt, etc.), among other things, which was not related to any of our trips. We want to include as much as possible so we don't get any RFE's.

Thank you for your help!

If I understand your question correctly, When my fiancee and I did our packet we included skype logs, text message log, emails and pictures are important (I would say 7 pictures would do it) and be sure that you have some pictures with your fiance and family and as well as engagement photos. In our packet we had a divider that stated "Evidence of Relationship." in that section we included all the information above along with travel itineraries etc. I would say include anything that shows you have met in person within the past 2 years (looks obvious that you have) and show that you have an ongoing bonafide relationship.

Hope all that made sense!! Best of Luck to the both of you!

I think you definitely need a statement of how you met and the time you've spent together in the last two years, and how you came to decide to marry - a summary of your relationship, if you will. This can be one document - in fact it's probably easier for USCIS if it is just one document. In some ways, this is the core document - everything else is the evidence that supports it.

I would include a few photos of you guys doing normal things (at a friend's birthday party, at a local restaurant, etc), and maybe skype logs or email logs (not necessarily the content of the emails) - it can't hurt and shows that there is an ongoing relationship even when you're not together. Sounds like you have more evidence than most couples going through this process, so I wouldn't worry too much!

Good luck.

We agree with the previous two suggestions. The main thing is meeting in the last 2 years and providing a top heavy petition will only increase your chances of no RFE. A big thing you forgot to mention is make sure you have passport photos! Anyways welcome to the VJ Forums!

The most important thing you need is the proof of meeting in the 2 years prior to filing. Passport stamps, boarding passes, ATM receipts, bank/credit card receipts, copies of visas used to reside in other countries together, joint rental agreements, and other third party documentation of being together in the same place at the same time. Toss in a few photos together to go with all that, and if they are in front of well known landmarks, all the better.

You do not need to write out a whole love story or summary of your entire relationship. You can even write a simple statement that fits in the space on the form without adding an attachment sheet, stating when/how you met, and when/where you met in person within the prior 2 years.

How much evidence of relationship you add in with the I-129F petition would depend on the consulate the foreign fiance(e) will interview at for the K-1 visa. Some require more 'front-loading' of relationship evidence than others.

Thank you for all of the advice! We have written a one-page document briefly describing how we met and the things that we have done together to build our relationship. We have lots of evidence in the form of plane tickets, residence permits, hotel receipts, other tickets, etc. from the trips we took together as well as the year and a half we spent together in Austria. We still have to pick out some pictures to go along with it and then we'll be all set we think (and hope!).

Kaydeecee has given you the best advice, good luck with your filing of the petition

Keep in mind that this is a two phase process. The first phase is where the USC petitions the USCIS to issue a visa to their foreign fiance(e). This is where the proof of meeting within the last two years comes into play, the proof that the petitioner is a USC (copy of BC or the entire US passport), and the letters of intent to marry signed by both parties (original signatures or notarized signatures). Once the petition is approved, the packet is sent to the Embassy or Consulate of the foreign fiance(e)'s home country. Depending on the country the amount of ongoing relationship evidence and application for the K-1 visa is submitted. Your fiance is in a low fraud country so the amount of front loading needed is up to you. At the Embassy or Consulate stage you need to convince the IO that the relationship is legit.

Good luck,

Dave

Agree. Kaydeecee has good advice.. Boarding passes and passport stamps are the best proof that you were at the same place at the same time.. plus other relevant photos receipts that prove you were together..they need factual information. All the best !

Hi ! :)

As proof of relationship we had :

-passport stamps + flight tickets of our trips

-pictures (4pic per page with infos about where, date & what we did, we had 4pages like that)

I also printed out 6 pages of pictures (small pictures)

- 1x recipe of flowers sent

- 1x recipe of amazon order (gift) from me to my fiancé

- 2 pages of skype calls (just 1 month)

- my email page where you can see the emails we send each other

- printed our first emails

We had around 18 pages & we didn't get a RFE :)
