I have seen in a few places on this forum warnings about not leaving blanks on forms, spedifically I-129F and G-325A. I have seen others who say that they left blanks and did not have a problem. So my question is this: Do I need to fill in every blank I do not use with "none", and if so, to what extent is this carried? (i.e. do I just write "none" for the main answer blank for the question, or do i need to fill in literally every blank? TIA, so glad I found this forum it has already been a huge help!

Always refer to the instructions for the *latest version* of a form. For the current I-129F form, the instructions read:

"How To Fill Out Form I-129F

...

3. Answer all questions fully and accurately. If an item is not applicable or the answer is "none", leave the space blank."

so... leave those fields blank.

For the G-325A form, the form clearly states "if none, so state" in fields where this is needed. Other fields can be left blank if not applicable.

The new "norm" seems to be: leave blank if unknown, "none" or not applicable, except if explicitly stated in the form for any given field, such as with certain fields in the G-325A form.

Also for the explanation of how we met, is the separate longer page generally considered necessary or is a one or two sentence explanation in the space on the form sufficient along with the supporting evidence required. We both attended the same small college and met there, attended simultaneously for three years. We could elaborate more on this, but I am not sure if it is necessary since it is fairly self-explanatory, esp when combined with the submitted evidence.

Basically in the past people have left a lot of the answers blank. Also people have said to make sure there are no blanks on the form. I would do either one of those.

Hope I helped and good luck!

Most people seem to do a separate sheet. It should be concise, and do not go into a lot of detail. General dates should be included if known, so they can get an idea of what the time-span of things has been so far.

The separate attachment sheet is not required. If your explanation of how you met in person within the last 2 years fits in the space on the form, then that is all you need, besides the actual proof of meeting of course.

And the reason the older posts you read were confusing is because the instructions used to state not leave any blanks, but last year new form editions came out and the instructions also changed. The new form edition instructions state that anything that is N/A or none should be left blank. You cannot go wrong following the most current instructions found on the USCIS site.

The example forms here on VJ are helpful for how to fill out the forms.
