I had my biometrics exactly a week ago today and this morning l received this email from USCIS, any comments/thoughts? Does this mean l will have interview before EAD approval and production? Could l still receive a RFE? My local office is in Houston TX

It means that you are in line for an interview date. You can still receive EAD before an interview is scheduled. It's possible to get a RFE even at the interview so I would say, the day you receive a greencard in your hand, that's the day you will be free from a RFE.

It just means you are in line. You can still get a RFE, even at the interview itself, and it could take months to get the interview scheduled. Or it could be fast. Good luck.

I agree with Newbie608. Just to add, while it's possible that you will have your interview and receive your GC before your EAD/AP will be approved, Testing and Interview Stage can still take some time.

Which type of visa are you adjusting from, btw? When you have a chance, , as it helps everyone using the forum.

Thank you for your responses.I am adjusting from F1 visa. We just came back from a week of vacation and it was very difficult to use my phone to log in here, I had no signal and/or battery drained fast.

I was expecting next, sometime from 60-90 days from filing, EAD letter/notification etc, and after that at some point the instructions about the interview. Like this email said the letter will arrived within 30 days and I understand the date for the appointment can be schedule a month or several months from the date it is received. I am perfectly ok with that, it's just that this case update surprised me quite a bit. I can't wait to get the letter in the mail and find out my interview date

As you can see from my time like, I've been in Testing and Interview for a month. I believe you should receive a 2nd notification with your interview date, and then it'll take up to 30 days to get your interview letter. You will not get a letter stating you're in Testing and Interview.

You might get the interview DATE notification in a week or months from now. Depends how fast your local office is.

I hope we both get our interview date soon.

Thank you Jason, I will have to fill up my timeline next. Can I ask you how was your interview experience? is Houston field office a busy one? How do you dress for the interview? I understand the office is by 45 north and beltway 8. I live in Pasadena so I think I need to spare at least 1:30 hrs to make it comfortably regardless of what time I will be assigned, maybe more if it's rush hr

We got to our interview early but it didn't matter as our interview didn't start until something like 45 min after the scheduled time, the office is fairly busy but it wasn't jam packed or anything, just business casual is fine but I did see some folks dressed on opposite extremes, some were dressed very casually and others formally but as long as you are presentable then it doesn't really matter. The office itself isn't far from IAH so use that as a reference point, if it is rush hour in the morning you will be with traffic to Houston but outside of Houston it should be a bit better as you'd be going against traffic but yes make sure you allow plenty of time.
