Hello everyone. I have been in the US for like 7 days now after coming in on my K1 Visa, when should I apply for my SSN and what documents I need to apply for it?

Hi there. Welcome to US finally! You can apply for a SSN anytime now (until 15 days before your I-94 expires).

Just bring your passport (with visa), I-94 and a filled-out SS-5.

Hello everyone. I have been in the US for like 7 days now after coming in on my K1 Visa, when should I apply for my SSN and what documents I need to apply for it?

It will likely the SSA office ask you come back after 2 weeks from the date you admitted to the US. I applied 3 weeks before my I-94 was expired. Documents needed are your passport and I-94. The lady at SSA office asked my alien number so make sure you are bring all your immigration documents in case they will ask for it. Good luck!

You're welcome. Btw, just to add to what I wrote earlier, you can also apply when you receive your EAD/AP card, but this has been proven to take more time. Best to apply soon-ish. All the best! :thumbs:

Things changed up with the Instant ONLINE I-94 - once a human can get one - they are already in the SAVE database, so SSA office can find that human in the SAVE database.

It's sweet !!! no more of this waiting for 2 to 3 weeks after POE for a K-1 visa holder. CR-1/IR-1 folks still have to wait, alas.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
