Hi there! I used my married name in all my AOS forms since that's the name that I want to be printed on my green card. It's really up to you. Personally, I'd go for the married name. :)

Just make sure that you have some form of ID with your married name or your marriage license with you when you go to get your biometrics complete. When we filed for my wife's AOS, we used her married name and when we went for her biometrics appointment, neither her US ID nor her passport matched the name (because of her maiden name), so we couldn't prove that she was who was listed on the letter. So we had to drive back home (50 mins) to get our marriage license. Apparently USCIS hadn't updated the information in the system for us to her married name yet.

Whichever name you want on your green card is the name you put on the I-485. If you use your newly-married name then ensure you include your maiden name under the "Other names used" of all forms.

Some ASCs are strict indeed and need the marriage certificate to prove the name change. I've done my biometrics with no issues, but I also brought my marriage certificate in case they ask, but Elizabeth NJ ASC didn't ask for it. :)

An acceptable ID needs to contain a photograph; a social security card is not a valid identity document.

Yes, take your biometrics appointment letter, your passport and marriage certificate, in case they need it for name change proof. Some have been asked for the marriage certificate to prove the name change and some have not.

We applied using the married name. Social Security as well as the military would not allow us to use the married name until we get at least a work card. They said the names have to match what is in Homeland Security.
