Hi,

I'm confused with the NOA2 Approval Notice Validity Date. Says mine is valid from 04/24/2014 - 08/25/2014.

What does it exactly mean?

Thanks for the replies! :)

it just means that's how long your approved petition is valid for. Don't worry though, if it's expired by the time you go to your interview the officer will simply extend it.

Thank you! Currently, there are still no available interview dates in my country so I was getting a bit worried. :)

Thanks for the replies! :)

The I-797 NOA form is used for many other USCIS purposes......for the K-1 process, those dates are meaningless. Once the NVC and then the Embassy have your case, the dates are automatically and seamlessly extended with no involvement required on your part.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

As advised above, don't worry too much about the validity period stated on your NOA 2. As long as you have paid for your visa application fee and created an account online (at https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/), USEM will know that your application is very much active, and there's no need for you to request for any extension. From the current scenario, you might catch a June - July interview appointment.

Hope you get one soon. Good luck.

Thanks sweet cakes! Already had my account set up but there are still no available interview dates. Getting one is like being in a battlefield! I check several times a day if there's an opening but my heart sinks every time. We're eyeing for a July interview.

Yeah, USEM seems to be still keeping up with the Haiyan/ Yolanda expedites. Hope you will be able to catch one of those cancelled appointments, which just randomly pop-up.

In the mean time, take this opportunity to make sure all the required documents will be ready by your interview time: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/325288/packets/K1%20and%20K2%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_updated%2004%20Feb%202014_.pdf

Thanks for the replies! :)

That is the validity of the petition allowing for application of a visa, like mentioned already the embassy will automatically extend the validity up to a year, so don't stress about that.

http://manila.usembassy.gov/kvisas.html

"How much time is given to complete the K-1 visa application?

A K-1 petition is valid for four months from the date of its approval. But the petition may be revalidated by a consular officer provided that both parties are still legally free to marry. We recommend that K Visa applicants gather all the necessary documents for the visa interview appointment as soon as possible."

Do you have your MNL # yet from NVC? For details on the process in Manila follow the flashing arrow below

For better answers relating to the process in Manila pop over to the Philippines forum.

Hi Hank,

Yes, we already got our MNL number and my fiance already received the letter from NVC as well. Just waiting now for a slot to open so I can schedule my interview. I've been following your site's tips on the K1 process. Really useful!!! :)
