Hi there,

I am just curious if any of you think I will be able to make my brother in-laws wedding July 9th .. I applied for my I-130 my NOA1 was Jan.2, 2014 ..

I am still in the initial review on the uscis website .. but I know the times are speeding up (or am hopeful they are) ..

Anyways any idea if there is a chance I could be approved with a visa in 7 months?

Thanks for your time.. much appreciated.

Jan 2 NOA1 means you will not get your visa till september. You need to find some other way to enter US. Tourist maybe?

It's unlikely you will have a visa within 7 months.

Is there a reason why you just can't visit like most Canadians?

Assuming that you are a Canadian citizen, that you have a passport and you have not been banned from visiting the USA.

You are allowed to go visit while your i-130 is pending. You just need stronger ties to Canada, like a job you must get back to (a letter from your employing saying you have xx days off and they expect you back on xx/xx/14), if you are a student show your school paperwork and when you are expected to return to school, a lease or rental agreement with your name, a utilities bill with your name, etc.

Also bring any paperwork showing that you filed for an i-130 (your NOA1) to prove that you are following the correct procedures.

It is of course up to the border officer but as long as your demeanor is friendly, polite and honest, you should be allowed to visit.

Unfortunately I don't think your visa will come through by June if you just filed for it this year. I have been waiting since last October and still no visa.

If you got approved today you would;t get through NVC in time and have VIsa. Thank God you are in Canad and barring any issues can just come on to the wedding. Your Visa and all that is on the other side of this year more like Christmas time at the rate they are going.
