Hey everyone...

I decided to post this in the off topic forum because i'm having issues deciding which computer I want to buy. So I am going to ask everyone else's opinion on which they would buy if they had the chance to. I've got it narrowed down to two computers, they are almost identical, just different processors and memory on them. Here are links to them:

This is the cheaper of the two..

HP 320 Gig AMD

This is the more expensive ...

400 Gig Intel Duo

I don't really care about the cost, and I don't mind waiting for them to get the AMD computer back in stock. I just want to know an unbiased opinion on which computer is overall better. Which will run faster, work better with digital media (Games, photos, MP3's etc)

Thanks guys!

Have you thought about Dell?? I just bought a refurbished one from their online store. Saved 2 to $300 by buying a refurbished one. Has all the same stuff as a brand new one, same warranty etc, just less!! Was directed to go that route by a few computer nerd friends and very glad I did, got a much better computer that i would have otherwise. http://www.dell.com/content/products/categ...s=22&~ck=bt Had it in my house in TWO days!!

As well a great place to buy monitors and memory is http://www.newegg.com/ Bought my 19" hanns-G from them and love it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16824254011

I noticed when we looked at Bestbuy, lot of the video cards were on the low end, thus thats why I went the dell refurbished route. When Dell says theyare refurbished, just means that some were returned because of a part (which was fixed) or someone ordered a machine then cancelled. I ordeeded the XPS 410. I think with all the stuff I have brand new it was close to $1300, which included a 19" basic monitor. From the refurbished site I think I paid $700, plus another $210 for the monitor. Got a way better video card for gaming going this route. Enough blabbing from I. The more computer savvy people wil come along. Guess it all comes down to what you really require the computer for. Cheers

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I'm set on wanting one of these two computers, i'm just not really sure which. I don't trust dell computers, i've heard too many complaints on them. I have other compaq's and HP's and have never had problems with them plus their customer support is awesome. You can get online anytime day or night 24/7 and speak live on chat with a technician that can usually solve the issues you are having with your computer.

And.. Another reason that I want one of those is because they are mainly geared toward "digital photographers" they have the true color on them etc. I'm pretty big into digital photography. I just wanted to know which was better overall as far as processor and video cards etc because my fiance will be using it when he moves to the US later this year, and he's a pretty big gamer, so I want to make sure it can support all his games. I'm thinking i'm leaning more toward the Duo only because it has a PCI express video card, the other has onboard. So I could easily change the PCI video card later if I needed/wanted to. But, everyone has been telling me they'd rather an AMD processor over a Duo Intel.

By the way that's a nice monitor. My Dad just got a 32" HD tv as his monitor. He bought the 2nd computer that i'm thinking about getting the Intel one. haha.

Wow, I heard the opposite, HP is terrible. Just looked up computers on Consumer reports and HP is second from the bottom when it comes to repair history. The best is Apple, then sony, and Dell in 3rd. Father in law had a HP, nothing but problems. I know little about computers though, just what others have stated. My previous computer had an AMD chip, never had a problem with it.

I would never get another HP again!!! I got a new HP last April and I've had to ship it to HP to fix 3 times now. It's a piece of #######. About DELL. I LOVED my DELL, but everywhere I went when I told them I had a DELL computer they would roll their eyes and tell me how bad it was. I don't get that at all. I never had problems with my DELL at all. Next computer will probably be another DELL. As for this damned HP.....I'm sure it will crash soon and I will tell HP to keep their POS. :star:
