I dont know for the K-1, however when we filled out the fiancee visa forms for my wife to come and get married in the UK we filled out this question "how we first met" as "How we came to know each other".. i.e. met in a bar, at a club, internet or whatever..

I would def include details of not only how you met but details of when and where you met in person for the first time.. (This is applicable for people meeting on the internet)

Best of luck to you !

make it like a detailed story and as professional as possible. Include exactly how you met, how your relationship blossomed, how many times you have seen each other. When i did mine, i incorporated the evidence we included in as well by using attachments. (i.e I visited Ms. .... ...... on July 03,2006 (see attachment 1).). and attachment 1 was a copy of the airline ticket.

Detailed story is a lot better and make it sure that you have supporting documents to prove it i.e. pictures, airline tickets, boarding passes, hotel accomodation and receipts, etc. You can write it anyway you want as long as you can be sure that there will be no loopholes.

I went for the short and sweet approach myself...figured they have enough paperwork to work through without reading a 2 page blow by blow account of our relationship.

S and I met through a mutual friend via the internet in 2004, and became fast friends. I visited the UK on July 30 2005-August 7 2005. It obviously went quite well, or I wouldn't be writing this now. He visited the States in March of 2006, I returned to the UK for a visit in July of 2006 and he is currently stateside to spend Christmas with me and my family and will be departing December 27th.

That's not it exactly, but pretty darn close...we did have supporting visa stamps and a couple of boarding passes, as well as his I-90(i think it is? that thing that customs puts in the passport) as he was here when we filed.

Well as for me, I just wrote one paragraph explaining how we met, that we talked on the telephone every night until we saw eachother again. I also said that I would visit very often (I included receipts, tickets, photos etc) Also that we had been dating for over a year and the date that he proposed marriage. But the most important thing is to establish that you have had a relationship/contact in the past two years, to show that you didn't just meet a week ago and decided to get married in order for them to migrate to the US.

NealandCari,

Both.

The style is up to you. Some people write one sentence that fits the line on the form, some people write a 1-page attachment, some people write a novel that dwarfs Michner.

I'm with the 1 page people.

Ours was also short and sweet. I started with how we met, how long I was there and my last 2 trips (and length of time). My original letter was at least a page and I had a friend proofread it. She said "they don't care...", "take that out..", etc so it was better. I stuck to the facts.

My fiance wrote a short paragraph as a supplement, about how we met the first time and how we've been keeping in touch since then. He mentioned dates of when he asked me to be his girlfriend and when he proposed to me, when he visited me and when we met up in Canada, etc. It was straight forward and very boyish haha... as in, plain without lovey dovey sentences like.... I really miss her and so forth :P If I was the one who had to write the supplement, I would have fallen into the most emotional moment and start writing bunch of unnecessary BS till it grows to be a novel.....that would be cheesy.......:D hah, but then maybe i could earn some money with the novel.

Wow, lots of advice. It should be facts and circumstances that predominates your description. But, as I've told others. Describe it like you would tell your mother. If you can convince your mother in a fairly short but detailed description of your new love, the USCIS should be a piece of cake.

Of course you won't start it, "Dear Mom". Good luck with it. Don't be afraid to discuss your love of this wonderful person.
