My son called me this afternoon from school (something he NEVER does) to inform us he had just learned that he had been selected as the Principal trombone for the 2007 West Virgina All State Orchestra!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

My cell phone went off in traffic (I HATE answering it when driving) and when he told me I thought I was gonna have to get out of the car and jump and down in the intersection. Wes was so happy he was laughing and nearly crying at the same time.

Of all the high school students in the State of West Virginia, my son was chosen as the BEST trombone player - a seat in the Orchestra outranks a seat in the band that will perform the same weekend! He will be the only player on the first part.

Can you tell I'm like ............................... SO FREAKING HAPPY!!!!!:dance::dance:

Been a clarinet and first saxophone player in my High school Orchestra In Montreal. Its really nice to be a first chair, and even more since he was choosen among many other trombonists.

Hope you will assist all the concerts, I miss that myself! what a feeling :)

OMG...I've been a band mom for YEARS! I was the high school Band Booster President for 2 years. Since I'm a 'short-timer' now (graduation in May) I stepped down to 2nd Vice President so I could take things a bit easier and enjoy his Senior year a bit more. I don't get to 'help' with this one though - it's a part of the State Teacher's Conference and is hosted by the Board of Education.

Oh Congrats!! He must have been working really hard!

I did the All-State program when I was in high school and it was a great way to get connected with a lot of other local musician kids. I hope he is not only proud of himself but also has a blast!

PROUD of himself? Oh Alex you don't know what you are saying!!! LOL

He's got one of those silent huge egos. He knows he's worthy - he just won't tell everybody about it.

What wonderful news!! Congratulations! :star:

I never understood band in high school but I can see now that they put so much hard work and sweat into all that they do. You must be a proud mama for sure!

:D

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

Congratulations to Zack and his proud parents! :star:

The trombone is such a cool instrument and it seems like not many kids choose to play it nowadays.
