Hey, VJ!

I have been checking my application and they still have not received NOA2. We received NOA1 March 27th. I want to visit my fiance this summer and since plane tickets are so expensive I would prefer to stay all summer. The estimated processing times is 5 months but I've heard of several cases where it happened earlier...so 5 months from NOA1 would be early September. Is it safe for me to go visit my fiance in Egypt for the summer (until mid August?)

I would think so. You're filing at Texas. It'll take 5 months...4 if they start going faster-looking at the history of the service centers, they tend to fluctuate back & forth every six months or so, hopefully that'll mean Texas will move faster here soon.

I agree it is fine to travel, but keep two things in mind:

- Make sure you have someone check your mail at home, just in case you get an RFE or something.

- Do you have a co-sponsor? presumably your job won;t be kept open for 5 months.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

I have someone to check my mail. What if I get notification while I'm away, or RFE? What would I do?

If you get notification, or an RFE while you're away, address it, take care of it! This may involve having your mail-checker person send you whatever piece of mail they send you, or whatever. But address it! It might be helpful to have all your NOA2 stuff with you just in case things go through in time. It's what I would do.... gather up everything you can ahead of time!
