HELP WITH COMPUTER PROBLEM NEEDED

This is wrote with a strange twist, I am writing it for PATIENTLY WAITING who is having problems with this system. In her words when she clicks on New Topic or tries to Reply computer acts like the link will open and then just closes her out of the internet, then she has to sign completely back on

Any suggestions will be appreciated and direct to her, she can read, just not answer.

When you say 'closes her out of the internet, then she has to sign completely back on' do you mean the browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc) crashes and she has to reopen it?

Has she rebooted the computer? Reboots 'fix' about 90% of issues like this.

I sent a reply to your PM... It's strange that a quoted reply or new topic crashes your browser but a fast reply doesn't. The only difference is the latter doesn't reload the page.

When you do a fast reply and submit it does that crash your browser?

If its just IE acting up like this, then it is possible she has a virus. She would want to download firefox and then find a good antivirus, or a virus removal and get that taken care of. I had that problem in the past one time and it was a trojan that was causing the prob. Good Luck

The trouble is viruses and malware are (depending on the severity) sometimes very difficult to identify and remove once they get into a system. Most people don't know the proper removal steps and even if they do it's not a lot of fun. Here's a link to an excellent guide... AnandTech Forums: Consolidated Security Thread There's a *lot* of great info there on how to protect your system and what you can do if you have been infected.

I'm using Firefox 2.0 and the site keeps logging me out randomly and won't display "View new posts".

Only been happening since the last big change.

I'm just hoping it's a glitch that works itself out.

edit: Because it double-posted while hanging and not returning me to the thread after my reply. Like it hangs without displaying new posts.

But a virus it prolly is. upon using and runing a virus removal program it scans your computer and detects any and all virus's, backdoors and ect, then she can have it removed and cleaned. Ofcorse depending on if she wants to pay for the program. Most well 90% of the free ones will detect anything and all things infected in your computer will not clean it,and if it does will not clean it completely. Buying a antivirus with virus removal even tho pricey is worth it completely.

BlackLight RootKit Removal Utility, a trialware commercial product that is designed to find and remove rootkits. See my Freeware Security Applications Thread for more options.

Blacklight i recommend, i paid for it, trial programs dont protect you in the future.

I would also recommend if you dont already have it, download ZoneAlarm. I have it, i love it, it protects me always. It will even show you when someone or a site is trying to enter your computer. It blocks it but it shows you at the same time. It is my best friend

Also try Opera it's alittle more user friendly then Firefox.. ..

Kicking you offline... mmmmm I would do a Virus scan... Registry scan..Spyware scan if you need a some freebies let me know..

one question i have.. is... is she on cable.? or dialup?

If she is running XP is firewall set up? I ran into a problem a year ago.. no virus was detected but with days and days working with a MS tech... the fix that only repaired the problem was setting the firewall. GO FIGURE...
