Forgotten?

What country are you living in ma boy?

How can anyone forget the struggles when the reminders are all around us?

The thing I object to is these reminders are always one sided.... when talked about.

Little context and lots of antidotal stories turned into common place history.

What is the result? A young crop of Black Americans growing more and more angry, convinced, they are robbed and are owed something.

If we could just do history that would be great because we have a lot to be proud of and learn from.

The bravery it takes to participate in non-violent movements, whether in the US or in other countries, is simply amazing to me.

What I really find inspirational about Malcom was who he became. He didn't just stick stubbornly to his opinions, he grew and changed as a man. He was certainly not perfect, but his story, in its entirety, is incredible.

We don't normally agree on most things, but I agree and applaud both of your statements... Progress

And yes who he became at the end of his life is most important. Sadly he was not appreciated in life as much as he has been in death.

I don't mind disagreement, I just take issue with the manner in which some disagree. You are usually able to disagree while posting facts and reasonable opinion. Others, not so much - they just immediately resort to name calling.

By the way, I remember when I read The Autobiography of Malcolm X in college. I commented to a friend of mine that I had started the book but quit after getting to a statement about white people are from the devil, or something like that. She then said, "so, you just quit because he said something you disagree with? You only read things that you already agree with?" Her saying that made me go back and read the book. Glad I did.

This is why I think race relations are a joke in this country. The huge double standard. You are defending a violent black hate group.

Blacks in this country want the whole country to be color blind, when and where it benefits them, but still hold on to some of the most racist actions I have ever witnessed, and it is tolerated.

I could go into some absurd spill about the original Klan being a organization to protect against lawless carpetbaggers, but I won't. Hate is hate, racism is racism.

If you actually read what I posted about the original Black Panthers, you'd know better.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Panthers

Gaining national prominence, the Black Panther Party became an icon of the counterculture of the 1960s. Although the Party emerged out of black nationalist movements, ultimately, the Panthers condemned black nationalism as "black racism" and became more ideologically focused on socialist revolution without racial exclusivity.[3] They instituted a variety of community social programs designed to alleviate poverty, improve health among inner city black communities, and soften the Party's public image.[4] The Black Panther Party's most widely known programs were its armed citizens' patrols to evaluate behavior of police officers and its Free Breakfast for Children program. However, the group's political goals were often overshadowed by the criminality of members and their confrontational, militant, and violent tactics against police.[

That's how the Black Panthers started. Now let's look at the Klan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KKK

Although there was little organizational structure above the local level, similar groups rose across the South and adopted the same name and methods.[19] Klan groups spread throughout the South as an insurgent movement during the Reconstruction era in the United States. As a secret vigilante group, the Klan targeted freedmen and their allies; it sought to restore white supremacy by threats and violence, including murder, against black and white Republicans. In 1870 and 1871, the federal government passed the Force Acts, which were used to prosecute Klan crimes.[20] Prosecution of Klan crimes and enforcement of the Force Acts suppressed Klan activity. In 1874 and later, however, newly organized and openly active paramilitary organizations, such as the White League and the Red Shirts, started a fresh round of violence aimed at suppressing blacks' voting and running Republicans out of office. These contributed to segregationist white Democrats regaining political power in all the Southern states by 1877.

Good black people and good white people should want colorblindness people period, and not just when it is beneficial. And people should fight when they see something racist happen instead of sitting back and saying it is not their business.

There is no double standards. I don't like blacks that do bad things, I don't like whites or any other race that does bad things. I don't defend racism like most of the VJers on here I see, including you Nature Boy.

You claim to understand what is really happening in America but I also can see through your hidden messages online and they really seem against black people.

I agree with most of this, but I am pretty sure I never defended Racism

it's a justifiable anger. generationally speaking, they were robbed. we do owe them something, and we can't even give them that simple recognition.
