No Pictures Together = No I-129F Approval

Based on reading the following instructions for the I-129f as evidence of our meeting in person I included copies of my passport showing I had visited the country, copies of airline tickets, as well as my admission letter to the University where my fiancé lives and stated that we currently live together in student housing. But I did not include any pictures of us together because it doesn't specify this in the instructions. Of course I included the required 2 passport photos but am I pretty much destined to recieve an RFE and face delay? Is there any way to supplement my I-129f with photos to prevent the RFE?

"Submit evidence that you and your fiancé(e) have met in person during the 2 years preceding your filing of this

petition. Such evidence may include a written statement from you and/or the beneficiary stating the exact date(s)

on which you met in person, copy of airline tickets, passport pages, or other evidence showing you and the

beneficiary have met in person during the requisite time period. If you believe you qualify for an exception to the

meeting requirement, submit evidence in support of the exception."

I think you'll be fine. Take the photos to the interview with you. With the I-129F, you don't have to prove a relationship, you just have to prove you've met within the past 2 years. Norway is not high fraud, so I would be surprised if you got an RFE from USCIS.

I talked to an immigration attorney and they said "No pictures = No I-129f approval" and they said they could take over the case and send in the supplemental pictures/evidence before the RFE. But I called USCIS and they said it's not possible to send supplemental information until an RFE is requested.

My I-129f was received February 25th 2014 at the CSC. If they do Request For Evidence (pictures) does this really slow down the whole process? The immigration attorney also claims they can make the process go quicker because they can fill interview cancelllations at the Oslo embassy or request expedite. Does hiring an attorney make the process go faster or is it just insurance/waste of money? and how long does the K1 usually take?

Norway, did you read my post? You're being taken in for a sucker. Photos together are not required (many people here have been approved with no photos. I have never submitted a photo of us together) and an attorney cannot make things go faster.

OK, not until you receive the RFE, you won't know what additional document they are looking for. So the "they will send the additional pictures before the RFE" is pure BS. At this point, best to just wait for it until you get any notice from uscis and hopefully it's NOA2. Did you receive yet your NOA1?

From my experience, our files were approved 3 weeks after they received our RFE response and then transferred to NVC. I guess, it really depends on the RFE documents they asked.

We had a lawyer when we filed for I-129f (and that is, way before I dicovered VJ). Then we had an RFE. Needless to say, they are expecting us to re-use their services. Point is, they will try to make money out of a client as much as possible. If you can follow the guides here in VJ, people have been successful in doing so.

Also when you have the time, do fill-up your timeline so helpful people will know which part of the process you are at right now.

I received my NOA 03/03/2014 and I updated my timeline but I'm not sure how to display it on my timeline like most people have since I'm new . I already filed the I-129f on my own so I'm not sure how hiring an attorney at this point would help anything?

Ok, the VJ timeline is good enough for reference. The ones like mine below can be done by editing the "signature" part in the profile.

At this point, best to just wait it out until you get a new notice from uscis. Aside from the guides here in VJ, you can just simply post a new topic for any question here. There are tons of helpful experienced people here like Harpa.

You can do that yourself by monitoring the Oslo Embassy appointment calendar.

Lawyers can also slow the process down -- many simply can not and/or will not be as proactive about your case as you would.
