I have seen/ read the guides, but can an K-1 mail in the SS-5 application for SSN? in the instructions for the SS-5 you can mail it in, I just wonder if this is possible for a K-1? As long as you supply the supporting documents I don't see why?

I've never heard of anybody in VJ who reported that they mailed in their SSN application. But in that case, are you comfortable in mailing your passport too?

A copy of passport was mailed? yeah that is my concern if they need to see the original passport that is why it is best to go to the local office. I have never heard of mailing it in, So just wondering if anyone has done it.

I would move heaven and earth to apply in person, regardless of any inconvenience to any other human.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Yes, you need to show the passport with the K-1 visa (as this is the only valid ID a K-1 visa holder has) and bring a print-out of your I-94 as well when you go to SSA office.

Go and apply in person at your nearest SSA. You need to show your passport with K-1 visa in it and a copy of your I-94.

~ Moved from K-1 Process to Social Security Numbers - topic is SSN, not K-1 ~
