Hi all, I am posting this because I want to make sure that everything is going right with our petition. My fiance and I sent in the k1 visa packet almost two weeks ago. We did everything as suggested, sent pics in, plane tickets and boarding passes, the I 129f and all these documents and forms. Today we received our very first notice of action saying that they received it all. They gave us our case nr and we checked it out on the uscis website and it says that there r four steps and we are during the initial review stage right now. Underneath it says that the alien registration number was changed and that we should check the uscis website for more info. Is this normal? We Googled this cuz we couldn't really find the info on their website and people said different things so we aren't really sure. So that's one concern of mine.

Also, the notice we received was sent by the California service center tho we sent our thing in to Texas.

GThank you in advance

It sucks you were transferred from CSC to TSC. CSC is processing about 3-5 times faster than TSC.

Edit: Also what you see on the USCIS website is completely normal. Expect it to look just like that for up to an average of 5 months.

- Yes, getting an Alien registration number (or A#) is normal. This will be your A# during your whole immigration process.

- That means California Service Center (CSC) will process/ adjudicate your K-1 visa.

For now, all you can do is wait until they give you another notice. Check out this flowchart for K1s: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

You're now at Step 3.

All the best! :)

How are we at step three? There is four of em and it says we are at the initial review step which looks like is the second step

Step 3 in this link: http://www.visajourn.../content/k1flow

Nothing for you to do right now until you receive another notice. Normally, it's NOA 2 (acknowledgement that your petition is approved), unless you get an RFE (request for Evidence). Check out the remarks on the right (in the link above) for what you can do in the mean time in each step.

I'm sorry guys, I didn't even notice that I posted two identical threads. My bad

OK. People are saying that csc is faster than the texas one... So I should be expecting waiting about five months in order for them to approve our petition?

That's the recent trend, it seems. I saw some CSC approval lead times of even 3 to 4 months in the past year, depending on the complexity of your case of course.

You can get an approximated processing lead time as well when you fill-out your VJ timeline.

How do you know that we were transferred to Texas? We sent our package to Texas but California sent us the receipt notice of action....

You are not transferred. Dallas Lockbox in Texas is where all petitions are sent. After acceptance, USCIS determined which service center will processing your case file. It seems that yours will be processing at CSC. Usually they would transferred case files to the other service centers when there are backlogs cases. It does happen after transferred, the approval comes sooner.

They are not transferred. This sometimes people have misunderstood about being transferred of case files. All petitions are sent to Dallas Lockbox which is located in Texas. After acceptance, USCIS will determined which service center processing the case file. So far, there are 2 service centers processing K-1 petitions as far as my knowledge, CSC and TSC even though sometimes Vermont shows up but rarely. Dallas Lockbox and Texas Service Center are totally different.

People who are transferred when there are backlogs case files at one of service centers and it does not happen right after you have your NOA-1. VJ added "transferred box" on timeline, I think almost the end of 2013. I did not have it when my fiance filed petition for me.

Though CSC is famous and more likable comparing to TSC about approval but when comes to sent approved petition to NVC I would say, they are infamous for being slow. Mine was processing at TSC, approved in 38 days, and got my case number about 2 weeks after approval was shown on USCIS website. One of members here that her petition was processing at CSC got her the case number almost 2 months after approved.

Thank you guys. All I can do now is wait. So it will be about five months to we get a second action of notice and that will be the decision, whether they approve the petition or not? N then after that I go to the interview? So this whole process can take up to a year right.... From this moment to when I can be here for good?
