The tracking # wasn't included in our email or text. Husband had to log in to the website to get the tracking number for the EAD. (It was mailed two-day express, and got to us overnight. Those of you who received notifications in the last 24hrs should probably have your EADs by Wednesday.)

:-) Text messages go out first, for some reason. Emails later. Website should be updated now to midnight-ish for tracking numbers (ours wasn't included in the email).

Congrats, folks!

Oh, HunNee - husband's job just needed the EAD. From what we were told, SSN won't remove that "valid for work only with dhs authorization" for a while yet. The EAD is the work authorization needed.

Mine wasn't included in the email, I had to check the status on the uscis website to get the tracking number.

The EAD/AP Combo will not remove the "valid for work only..." On the SSN card. He will need the green card to be able to remove that. So, just wait until the green card to apply for a new SSN card without the writing on it.

When you say that he had to log in to the website to get the tracking number, you mean the USCIS website? My husband's case hasn't updated with a tracking number yet but I received an email at 7:30 a.m. this morning that the card had been shipped..getting anxious now!

Yes, when you log in on USCIS website, you can see the tracking number.. the 1st email my husband received was at 8:45 am saying that the new card has been mailed (no tracking number yet) then he received another email at 3:01 pm, saying that USPS picked up the mail from USCIS with the tracking #DCN.. for some reason the number won't show on the email, so we decided to log on to the uscis website and the tracking number is there.. so relax, you'll receive yours pretty soon..

Yes, it will be a waste of time to go to the SSN office now if he already has a SSN card. They will issue him a SSN card with the same writing on it, so he needs to wait til he receives the green to get the new card without the writing.

He can also work with the EAD card and SSN with the writing on it. I'm in the same situation ;-)

So he can work using his EAD and can already use his SSN even with that writing on the SSN card?? Thanks

Ok, Great! Thanks Poobee!

How about getting a drivers license? since his I94 already expired, what else can he use to apply for drivers license? does he have to wait for the green card as well?

Called customer service, spoke with IO which gave me our EAD/AP tracking number. Got pushback when I asked to be transferred to IO. Lady told me call would drop upon transfer. I told her I was willing to take the risk. Got tracking number notification an hour after talking to IO.

He should be able to get a driver's license. With his EAD. I think this will depend on the state in which you guys live. But they will have to verify his status with the uscis, which takes up to 2 weeks. Once the uscis confirm his status, he can go back to the DMV to get his license. The only problem is that his license will have the same expiration date as his EAD, which is 1 year. He will have to renew it later with the green card.

This is how it is done in GA.

Ok, Great! Thanks Poobee!
