Visa Interview - Should the petitioner accompany the benificiary

Hello! I wanted to ask if my husband should accompany me to the visa interview or not? I think it's optional for the petitioner to join the beneficiary for the interview but what are the advantages or possible disadvantages in each situation. Thank you for your responses.

It's not necessary. I'm sure it would be nice if the petitioner had the funds to do so, though.

its not really nescessary as long asd beneficiary is well prepared an all the documents on hand so no worries though anyways goodluck

This is really country dependent. Some embassies unofficially require the petitioner there, the Dominican Republic comes to mind, while others it doesn't matter. But if the petitioner CAN be there for you and wants to, it certainly looks good to the CO, even if they're not allowed inside. I remember reading stories about Lagos and people have an easier interview if they can tell the CO that the USC is sitting outside waiting. It certainly NEVER hurts!

Mumbai consulate does not allow the petitioner in, it's only the beneficiary who goes for the interview. I'm not sure about the Delhi consulate though.

It is not really necessary for petitioner to join beneficiary for beneficiary interview at consulate... Only Delhi consulate allow it in India.

But if you have red flags in your case, then, it will be great benefit for petitioner to come for the interview.

Red flags - any previous marriages, short time between divorce and next marriage, age difference is big, couples are not together for some good time (one of person here on VJ went to marriage and then never went back to see her, her visa was denied due to "not on-going relationship", then they have to have second interview together and both of them attended in Delhi)

The embassey by me, doesn't actually allow the petitioner into the interview, let alone the building. My husband will be coming with me regardless, but he will have to wait outside the building.

It really depends on the country, but I don't think it's all that important unless you are from a high fraud country.

It seems strange to me that certain policies are different at certain Embassies. I know this is true though.

I think these policy differences are contributing to the confusion people face when dealing with immigration issues. I guess we could add uniformity to the immigration reform debate. I have no doubt the process could be streamlined and simplified.

Thank you all for your responses. Our case is clean but the only thing is that my husband could not visit me since our wedding last year in April. Could it possibly be a problem?

Iam wondering the same thing.. My husband is due for interview this 15th.. Do we (the petitioner) have to schedule an appointment as well? And if so would you know where?
