Hi again,

I apologize in advance because I'm not sure if there is somewhere to post Canada-specific questions.

As described in my previous post, I'm having trouble coming up with primary evidence of meeting my fiance whom I currently live with  . My passport stamps and boarding passes are too old. I do have recent bills and receipts from Canada with my name and Canadian address on them (one from a clinic, one from the Costco optometrist), but not sure if that will be acceptable since the receipts don't have credit/debit card info on them, as I don't have any cards at all.

I haven't sent the K-1 petition yet.

Would going to get our letters of intent notarized together, in Canada, count as primary evidence? Since we'd be documented together at the same time and place?

We are in Quebec. If notarizing the letters would help us, does anyone know if authentication from a "Commissioner of Oaths (Commissaires à l'assermentation)" would be accepted? According to Google, Quebec doesn't recognize "notary publics", but the Commissioner of Oaths serves a similar purpose. Or would it be better to go to Ontario to do this, where the notary publics are similar to the American kind?

I'm so overwhelmed and frustrated right now, so I hope this makes sense :(

Thank you.

i am not an immigration expert just a fellow vjer, but i wouldn't risk combining two different documents. Do the 2 letters of intent from each of you ( does not have to be notarized). Then do another letter stating you are in fact in canada with him, have that notarized both your signatures and hope for the best?? or maybe you guys should take a bus trip or something somewhere together. it proves you were in the same location at the same time.

Thanks for your reply! Can you explain what you mean by combining two different documents? What I meant was that there is a letter of intent from each of us, and we could go together to a notary and have each letter notarized. And I was thinking that having both documents stamped/signed by the same person on the same date would prove that my fiance and I were together in the same place at the same time. Or would that not work for some reason? Thanks again.

It could work as added evidence along with everything else you provide. Just be sure to point out the fact that both were notarized by the same person on the same date. They most likely won't bother to pick up on that all on their own.

yea i wouldn't recommend you do it the way your suggesting. Your giving them the benefit of the doubt to put two and two together like jay-kay states they are not going to get it.

You don't need the letter of intents notarized i'd do a separate letter explaining your situation and with both signatures on it stating that your both together in Canada and get that notarized. Although I haven't been here long I haven't heard anyone else try this before though.
