Need MP3 player help

I have had my special U2 edition (20GB) ipod for about 3 years now. I love it and it still works well (besides the upgrade issue).

I think it was LisaD who said before that all of the accessories for MP3 players these days are for ipods. Whenever I walk into Costco it's all ipod speakers and other things that all have ipod written all over them.

I say, stick with the ipod!

My sister got the money to get a 60gig Ipod, for Christmas.... she hasn't bought it yet as she like looking at how much money she has.

Get a Creative device! I love my Zen V Plus. It's a lot cheaper, has a lot more features and a more intuitive user interface than a comparable iPod, *plus* it works with subscription music services, such as Yahoo Music Jukebox, Napster and Rhapsody. This means that, for about $15 a month, you can fill your player with an unlimited amount of music, as opposed to paying per song as with iTunes. I'm not sure about iPod becoming technologically obsolete, but I hope that, with so many companies entering the mp3 player market (including Microsoft, with Zune), people will start shifting away from Apple products that are overpriced, use proprietary formats and have poorer interfaces. Sorry, I just intensely dislike Apple!

We bought Corey a Creative one as well, and he loves it. Face it though, he's 13. He'd love anything! Seems to work well though.. M.

Yeah people have been predicting the death of the iPod for years, yet this last Christmas a record number of people found iPods under the tree, including me. I suggest you wait until after next Tuesday if you want to buy a new one. MacWorld in San Francisco starts next Tuesday, and you never know what Apple might want to introduce. People are expecting real Video iPods, and maybe an iPod phone.

I do not keep up with Ipod trends, so I wouldn't really know what's the latest if not for my husband. He bought the first edition ipod a couple of years ago when it first came out, compared with the new ones, this old one looks like a brick. It still works fine though, we hook it up w/ some good speakers and that serves as our main music player at home.

Personally, I like my cheapie 1gig MP3 player that I use for workouts, it's plugs in to my USB so I can load and move mp3s whenever I feel like it. No special software, just plug and play, it uses triple AAA batteries, really simple. I've had it for almost a year now and it still works great.

Last Christmas, hubby gifted me the green ipod nano to replace my cheapie mp3 (which, as I've mentioned, still works fine). Although I love the color, I do not see the need to replace my plug and play inexpensive piece of music player, so I thanked him and returned it the following day.

I got a Marc Jacobs purse instead.
