I am sure much of Germany does. The economics of both countries are entertwined in an incestuous relationship. Germany pretty much is the engine of Europe and Europe would suffer badly if Germany suffers. It has not been that long ago when that wall came down.

The U.S. made this mess possible by the financing we did. I am an cold war soldier and am looking at these episodes from that perspective. So far it has been classic maneuvers that are easy to foretell. I even seem to know what the next step is probably. Obama needs to approach this from a viewpoint of history.
