Is it true that K3 isn't treated as an expedited form of spousal visa anymore?

Not true.

What browser are you running? When I have ghostery enabled, it blocks the calls to google, so I get no hits, but when I allow the trackers it works (see screenshot). Do you use similar browser plugins?

Alternatively, you can simply do the same thing directly on google, scoping the results to only visajourney. https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awww.visajourney.com+k2&oq=site%3Awww.visajourney.com+k2&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.4639j0j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=91&ie=UTF-8#q=site:www.visajourney.com+k3

So THAT's why it's never worked for me. So obvious, yet I never even considered it :D

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

The search function here at VJ is less than helpful. Try it yourself: type "K3" into the search box and hit enter. Nothing. No hits. no0pb.gif

that's because it's only 2 letters. Search engines on forums generally need three.

Also it's best to use the "Advanced Search" vs the general search. You can then search extensively in just the K3 forums and the "what visa do I need" forum.

On your timeline, it says that it was your i130 that got approved (CR1/IR1), not your i129f (K3). Which one is it?

Is your timeline updated?

Just want to check regarding how K3 is being processed since I've read in here that it's seldom used now and that USCIS tend to just put together the I-129 and I-130 together. I thought it should be a better visa since it expedites the spouse but it seems not?

Please clarify or enlighten me on this. We are about to file ours very soon.

Thank you!

K3 will cost you more money and paperwork in the long run. However if your primary purpose is to be with your spouse ASAP and your not worried about time or money then you should file for it. Heres my story based on first hand expierence/ I hope you find it useful

In April 2013 I filed a I-130 petition for my wife. August 2013 I filed the K3 with the same hopes you have. Members of VJ (one that has replied to your thread) gave me the advice of K3 being obsolete and that i was wasting time pursuing it. My I-130 and K3 were both transfered in December 2013 from MSC to NSC. They were both approved in mid Janruary 2014 about 4 days apart. Add that up and thats very close to the 5 month average approval time for a K3..I-130 not so much. My I-130 is currently still at NVC waiting input and a case number. My K3 has been at the Tokyo Embassy for about a month now. And its still there because we are going the I-130 route for personal reasons. Bottom line is it took me about an hour and the cost of postage to file the K3 petition. Some good advice is to do your own research and decide what is best for you. Personally I would stick to the official websites (USCIS, State dept, etc) for information about visas. It wont cost you a thing to have that K3 option on the table. And if NVC did loose our file we would have the K3 and would start that process right away.

Whatever route you decide to go I wish you luck. Personally I would always have as many options as I could, especially if it wont cost you.

Well, my husband and I would stick to the original plan of filing the K3. We will take the chance and whatever happens whether it be converted to CR1....that is fine.

Thank you really for all the help. Much appreciated! smile.png

Just thought I would visit here to pick up some info on how others are getting on with their K3's. Our has been forwarded to the embassy just this week but I feel that it will be closed by them as we also the 130 at the NVC. Has anyone here had any success with the k3? We just want to be together whatever the cost, and as I'm retired the green card is not so urgent.

Some have recently. There was one, from India I think?

in the end it costs twice as much for the K3 and you get the green card faster with the CR1. Document intake at the NVC vs adjustment of status once you reach the USA. You can try if you wish, it's up to you obviously.

if the dublin consulate (embassy?) doesn't close the I-129F on you that is. You still have to call the NVC to get the case number for the I-129F. Might as well see if the I-130 has one too.

NLR, do I still have to get the case no. for 129 if it has already been sent to the embassy? My husband got a snail mail letter yesterday saying it has been sent. I filled in and submitted i129 today.

Yes.

you can't pay the fees, complete the visa application, get the medical done or book the interview without it.

Actually the case no. was sent to my husband in the letter he received. Silly me, I had to have that for filling in the DS160 which as I said earlier, I've already submitted.

On your timeline, it says that it was your i130 that got approved (CR1/IR1), not your i129f (K3). Which one is it?

both got approved but NVC sent my I129 to the US embassy immediatly where as my I130 is still at NVC :( so i went on with my I129
