Hi everyone!

Been perusing this site and looks like a great community with everyone being super helpful. Now, hoping if I may get some insights for my situation. I met my fiancee a year ago when I visited Vietnam and have been keeping in contact through kakao, skype, facebook and google voice almost daily. I returned to Vietnam this year during Tet and proposed and she said yes!

I am currently divorced. I successfully sponsored my ex-wife in 2002 and got married. Alas, things didn't work out and we were divorced about in 2008. We went our separate ways and have not kept in contact at all. My current fiancee says that she may be asked where my ex-wife lives, a question to which even I can't answer since I don't even have her phone number anymore.

Does anyone know how my situation affects the process this time around? What kind of information do I need to have regarding my previous marriage and ex-wife? Do I have to track her down? huh.png

Second question. I work full-time as a developer with a regular salary of 52k a year. However, last year the company had put all full-time employees on a 20% furlough for about 6 months but I have already been restored to full-time and am back to my regular salary. My w2/taxes this year will show my income to be lower than what I regularly make. When filling out the affidavit of support should I write down that my salary is 52k or whatever my current w2 says?

Thank you in advance for your time and considerations smile.png

The only documentation needed from your pervious marriage is a divorce certificate; no need to track down the ex. If the wife gets asked where your ex lives tell the truth......I don't know; my fiancée doesn't keep in touch with her. I don't know is a good answer; don't feel pressured to say things that you don't know.

I would put down your current salary. If it is different from your last W-2, which is true in my case, you can provide your last few pay stubs and a letter of employment from your company which will have your current salary written on it.

Welcome! Always put down your current annual salary, not what is necessarily listed in your tax return or w2's. Just include proof of your current salary: employment letter, paystubs, etc.

Thank you for the reception and replies! :D

Another question. On the I-129 form there's a section that asks if I've filed this petition for someone before, which I have, and asks for the Alien Registration number of that person. What if I don't know that information? I went through all the documents that I still have that my ex didn't take with her and I only have her Social Security Number but not the Alien Registration number. Is it ok to leave that blank?

Thanks again!
