Hello Everybody!

I am a green card holder (got it last fall). Now I want to petition for AOS for my mother. Would you tell me what is the best way to do that? There are several possible options I consider as of now:

1. She takes a tourist visa, arrives here in the USA, here I petition for the AOS (she also applies for an AOS)

2. She stays in the home country, I petition for AOS, she applies for AOS, she receives the family based visa, she comes to the US and waits for the interview

3. A better option which you can suggest

Please, share your opinion on each option, pros and cons (risks). Also feel free to give me your alternative, sources, links.

Thank you.

LPRs cannot petition for parents, only their spouses or minor children.

hi

as said you cannot petition for your mom, first you have to become a USC, so you cannot do anything until you become a USC

in the meantime she can visit on a tourist visa.

Only US citizens can petition for a parent. A green card holder can not petition for a parent.

It is immigration fraud to enter the US on a tourist visa with the intent to adjust status as you suggested in 1.

Thanks everyone for the insight!

Additional question: my mother applied for the US visa, she will have an interview soon. Will she have any difficulties since I am a green card holder? What kind of questions can she expect? She already had several US visas before and visited the USA.
