  1. 1. Does that Korean pizza with the crust stuffed with potato sound so bad now?

I hate American bread. Nasty! Too much sugar, too doughy, and tastes of cake. dead.gif We have the La Brea bakery in town, and their breads are everywhere, but they don't do a nice white tin loaf. Or granary loaf. Just baguettes, boules, ciabattas...

Last time I came back from the UK I brought four loaves back with me. laughing.gif

CABA really stands for Croatia, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Armenia.

I have yet to see a bakery in the US, although I am sure they do exist somewhere, donut shops? Sure, every corner, but not a bakery where you can get fresh baked bread that was created on the premises. It's not even just that US bread is sweet (which it is), it's also made too quickly and is always damp and the yeast is not given the time to develop so bread smells funky too. It's just not a good product or a good staple. It's a shame because there's nothing better than good quality fresh bread. Oh well.

Whaat?

You have never seen a real bakery in the US?

One of the first things I do when I move somewhere is locate a bakery.

Where do you live?

Impossible, because real CABAs wear tights and Belarus ladies would never do that. Stockings and belt only, good for the circulation.

It's a FACT because I am wearing blue tights today and I am the uber-CABA.

Disneyland, well not quite.

There is a Danish bakery in walking distance but they still do not sell what I consider bread.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Ahh, that's too bad. What about a farmer's market or something?

I might actually attempt to find one online. I guess I gave up after having so many disappointing experiences, but if the bread is really out there, I will find it!

I don't really know what's going on in southern CA so I have no leads. But I have been to nearly every state in the US and have lived in more than a handful, and real bread has always been available. I might have had to go out of my way a bit to get it, but it was there. If I list all the bread near me I will just sounds like I'm gloating :( I wish you good luck and good bread!

I'll need it, my initial search just brings up acres of cup cake bakers, nothing about bread at all.

It might be what you are considering bread. All bakeries bake what the customers want. Different areas will probably sell different breads. Super markets have bakeries and some are large and all them carry breads. Usually many different types. If you are looking for a specific type of bread that you ate your whole life and that bakeries or bread type is obscure then you will have problems.

Where I am, even the specialist bakery bread is half a page of ingredients. :o

And there are no good bakeries that make simple bread within 30 miles. None. :(

I think they are just looking for bread that isn't wonder bread. Real bread with yeast and few ingredients.

I did a search and did see a lot of "cupcake" bakeries, trying to be like Magnolia bakery.

If any UK people are in NYC, they should have a meal at Tea and Sympathy. Their bread is nice. I don't know where they get it, though. http://teaandsympathynewyork.com/
