Hello guys,

I'm pretty new here, but I have been reading your posts. I'm in the Testing and Interview stage since April 7th, I filed my documents at the end of February, and since April 7th I haven't heard anything from them. My local office is on Long Island-Holtsville. Did anyone have experience with that office? I know this long wait is not that usual, so what are you guys suggesting me to do? Is there anyway to chech where my office is at my applications ( doing Decembers,Januarys etc).

This long wait for the interview date is so stressful.

Thanks

Been reading this forum since I applied but scared to get it jinxed so I'm not posting anything. Just a little superstitious. But now sharing you our story.

Finally had our interview this morning at around 9AM but our scheduled time was 8:15AM. Quite a lot of applicants so we had to wait.

We arrived at around 7:40AM but had to wait for our lawyer. A friendly lady officer called us, had to swear then asked us a few questions like

how my husband and I met, how many were at our wedding, all the yes or no questions on the application, our information like full name, date of birth,

and if those were our signatures. Asked us if we have other evidences for bonafide marriage, so we gave her copies of our bank statements,

engagement ring receipts, show/ travel tickets, letters and pictures. Then she gave us a copy of the USCIS business card and explained to us about the green card,

what phone # to call etc. That's when the time I was wondering if we were approved. Then she told us that she was approving our case, gave us the interview results

which showed "Congratulations! Your I-130/ I-485 applications has been recommended for approval. Within the next few weeks upon approval, the Service will be sending

you an approval notice followed by your legal permanent residence card." So and so forth. She aslo explained that she's giving me a 10 year GC since we were

married for almost 3 years already.

Everything was so precious today. Waited for 4 years for this. We feel blessed (L)

Congrats on your EAD card finally being sent 5 days before your interview! Looks like you'll be handing in your EAD card after you're approved next Monday! Sending you positive Canadian vibes for a successful, easy and light hearted interview. Go Habs Go!

Thanks so much for your good wishes! According to USPS it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow! Also I'm very proud of the Habs as I hail from Montreal (was born in Trinidad) :)

The irony is that they are playing against the NY Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals :)

I hope you get your interview scheduled very soon!

HI sdrasko,

As you already know the process and time for interview scheduling is all over the map! Most offices seem to moving at a fairly quick pace and you have some who are moving slower than a turtle. You check the status of your office via this link but take the data they reflect with a grain of salt.

We all know it's stressful but just hang in there :)

On the USCIS website it says the Washington DC field office is only up to mid-October filers for the I-485. They seem to be one of the more backlogged offices unfortunately :/

wow that sucks.....but not shocking...DC is a joke when it comes to getting things done

Had our interview today at Federal Plaza in NYC!

It was a quick 20 minute interview. The officer had not seen our papers before, so he asked for almost everything again. Then he asked both of us a few questions, like our full names, parents' names, dates of birth, how and when we met, etc.

He didn't tell us we were approved on the spot, but he was pleasant and was smiling through the whole process. So I think everything went well!

Hope to hear back soon!

I also had my interview at 26 Federal Plaza this morning.

Our appt was at 9:30 a.m. and we arrived on time but we were only called after 11:15 a.m. There were a lot of people!

Our interview started with a major snag and we knew it would happen and came prepared. We had applied for the I-130 since July 2013 and it was supposed to have been transferred from Nebraska service centre to the NY office to match up with our I-485 AND we had clearly stated that it needed to be transferred on our AOS cover letter and provided the copy of the I-130 transfer notice...yeah...that so didn't happen... :protest:

The I-130 is still sitting in Nebraska folks...since Sept 2013! Fortunately we had carried a complete copy of the I-130, with fresh signatures and passport pictures which allowed me to actually get through the interview. The IO couldn't believe that I had gotten scheduled for the interview without the I-130 not already in the file. He reviewed the I-130 copy we provided and accepted that as being complete. He then reviewed the I-485 yes/no questions, asked me to confirm my current address and the date we got married. That was it! He didn't ask to see any additional bona fide evidence (as we had front-loaded the I-130) or see our wedding album. He looked pretty stern at first glance but he was really nice to both my husband and I and laughed with us several times.

He said his supervisor wanted the original I-130 transferred from Nebraska before they can approve the AOS and he wrote in my passport that my AOS is pending. He said that he hopes that they transfer the I-130 from NSC asap but we all know that this could potentially take weeks :(

So even though the interview went really well and he was pretty much ready to approve me, it is still in pending status for the moment thanks to the I-130 fiasco!

Thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you to VisaJourney.com. This website was so helpful to me and my husband throughout the AOS process. This website has accurate information and I found answers to so many of our questions. We did not use an attorney to prepare the applications (I-485, I-130, I-864, I-765). We followed the guides from this site. Our interview lasted about 45 minutes. We had a couple of red flags and I thought the officer would review our case for a couple of months and then make a decision. We did consult with an attorney and were told not to expect an approval on the day of the interview. The attorney advised us that we could wait up to 90 days.

The officer told us that we had sufficient evidence (I had tons of evidence) for an approval and I was so happy inside when I heard the loud thump of the approval stamp on our AOS application.

Again thank you VisaJourney. This site is so wonderful and helpful for people with straight forward cases and people with red flags like ours.

Our case status has been changed on the USCIS website to Card Production.

Send an email to me if you would like tips on what marriage evidence to submit.
