So the embassy called my fiancee yesterday and told her they want pictures of us with the cake in our engagement party. Also they want a video of the whole engagement. I thought dvds and videos aren't allowed in the embassy. Anyways its fine but has anyone else been asked to bring in their engagement party video and do they really sit there for 2 hours and watch the whole engagement?

They don't likely want to watch all of it...just enough to see (a) if one was made, as may have been claimed on paper and (b) to check on body language between both parties, to see if the video was real or staged...probably others before you had dummied up a video and now the embassy is a bit more circumspect.

they asked for my engagement video when my fiance took the video after their review they told us that the video shows a marriage ceremony not engagement. our case was denied now starting spouse visa

What happened to you is exactly what I was thinking the embassy was trying to prove... I am guessing they have had a bunch of couples who have been doing a "ceremonial marriage" before coming over on the k1 and they are onto this trend... To the OP be careful, if your engagement ceremony looks or smells like a "wedding" you might find yourself in the "too married for a k1 and not married enough for a CR1" situation. This is why so many people warn against the big ceremony that looks like a wedding before the k1 visa.

This is exactly what I was thinking also. Because K1's are flying through they are sensing people jumping and circumventing the system.

I pray they think it is an engagement party nothing more. Remember its not about your countries traditions and norms. If the CO thinks it well they will deny it. All the best.
